It occurred to me that this might not be generally well-known, so pay attention...

From VIATeC's pages:

Why Island Tech?

With the help and support of its members, VIATeC is hosting Island Tech 2007, a one-day exposition of more than 80 Vancouver Island technology firms and research agencies.
Discover the second-largest high tech region in B.C.

Island Tech 2007 celebrates the world-class innovation, research and technology that’s generated on Vancouver Island. It’s a venue for local technology companies and research agencies to meet and show their creations, and a chance for the public, the media, government, students, potential investors and technology workers to discover what’s happening in our thriving technology community.

We welcome your attendance at Island Tech 2007.

The last Island Tech showcase, held in October 2005 was a huge success with over 80 exhibitors, 20 special interest speakers, and 2500 attendees. Based on the previous Island Tech, we know:

* Participating companies will benefit from focused and exclusive discussions with senior-decision makers during the invitation-only VIP networking session.
* Further beneficial networking on a peer-to-peer level allowing CEO’s and technical staff to talk face-to face with other innovative individuals and to share experiences and thoughts on process, resources and suppliers.
* The sector will find itself with a stronger, more unified voice because there will be a significantly improved perception and understanding by politicians, investors and media throughout the province of the size and vitality of our local technology community.
* Support and attraction of technology companies and talent will continue as others realize the strength of the Island’s infrastructure, talent and lifestyle benefits.
* The region will enjoy improved partnering and cluster formation due to the connections made during the networking sessions and the improved understanding of the sector’s capabilities shown during the exposition.

Island Tech 2007 will take place on Friday, November 9th at the Victoria Conference Centre. Exhibitor space is limited to Vancouver Island technology companies and sponsors and space is going fast. There are still a few high-profile sponsorship opportunities available, so it is not too late to make sure you are part of this important technology showcase.

For an information package please call Brent Jordan, VIATeC Director of Events and Marketing at 250-483-3225 or email bjordan@viatec.ca.
