It looks like Mike Geric Construction has cancelled its plans at 2625 Arbutus Road in Saanich, with the site now up for sale for $7.9M. The most recent plan was for 34 townhomes. An earlier proposal envisioned condos and townhomes.

After recent developer requests for permit extensions and additional density to make projects work financially, a plan for a 48-unit condo project on Shelbourne Street may be a sign that market conditions are improving, says Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock.

Council unanimously endorsed the rezoning and development permit applications for the six-storey condo project at 3989-3991 Shelbourne St., two lots that currently have single-family homes.

Lolz. Market conditions improving? Not by a long shot. Expect decline for the next 5 years.

We’ll see if it does proceed as a condo. Rentals might be the way to go here.

At the rate the CRD is going, they'll have redeveloped all their buildings with new ones in a few years.  Still questionable logic to demolish a certain number of affordable units.  Seems better to buy land and build new and keep the existing ones in place as even more affordable units.

These were literally built in 1987 and 1988.

This nearby townhouse project at 1701 McKenzie was built in 1969.   And is nowhere near its "end of use" date.

Wow. Instead they should buy up all those decrepit houses across the street and do it there.
