What they planned a tunnel under T&C mall? That is incredible.
I know, imagine had that been done, how things would be so much different now. I am going to contact the ministry of transportation and see if those plans still exist.

Any chance we could get those links back up? Somehow I missed this thread first time around.
Thanks
I just fixed the links, they work now.

Thats not a terrible route. Not one I'd have picked, but it has the appeal of potentially boosting development along the Gorge/Burnside part of town. I'm not sure most #14 users would use it as the time from downtown to UVic is the same as the bus and Camosun is missed.
but also remember that the study in 73 was only a brief look at using the CNR alignments. In '75 there was a route change south of T&C mall, where it was to follow Blanshard St to the downtown core.
I suspect that had the lines presented in the report been built, and were successful, other routes would have been looked at, like serving Camsoun.
Unfortunately there were those who like today who didnt have the fore-thought when it comes to transportation planning. If they had just built it, and encouraged development along the lines, there would be no debate as to how big our population would have to be to get LRT or streetcars, trams etc. A debate I feel is pointless.
