I agree with some points that OSMICH made, and also disagree.
-conflict of interest, etc that's all fair to say... and also having those reviews on their business web page...
I do not believe that they should be writing these reviews as "The Little Piggy". If they had a web page dedicated just to the reviews, with no affiliation to their own business... then I think it would be fine.
The only thing I have a problem with is if they are reviewing establishments that are very similar to their own... that may be seen as a crude way of swaying customers in their direction.
I have read a number of their reviews, and those I have read, are fairly accurate of what I have experienced.
No matter what "The Little Piggy" says about my favourite places, I will continue to visit them, as their reviews, are only the personal opinions
(evidently , not professional) of a couple of fellow local whiners (oops... winers) and diners.
I may check out sites, news papers, etc to see what other people think of an establishment before I check it out for myself... but I do not rely only on the opinion of others... I will go to the establishment, and try it for myself... I may find that I agree or disagree with the reviewers... but it doesn't matter... because it's not a big deal.
By the way... I love Lady Marmalade, Heron Rock, and many other restaurants that Piggy has said "nay" to in the past.
I've said my ... 15 cents.
good night, and good eatin'.
PS... I realize there isn't much flow/grammar/whatever to my piece here... I say... who cares?... it's in English, not Klingon I'm sure you can understand what I'm tryin' to say.

I should self review - it's a good idea. My business isn't always perfect and that Monday Mag review delighted and terrified me at the same time. While I felt comfortable with the compliments, it means I have to work harder to try to live up to the praise. Nonetheless, my thanks to the reviewer.
I think Heron Rock is great - steak frites to give Brasserie a run for their money. Thanks for the support.
I'm looking forward to a positive experience at Lady Marmalade. I've clearly had some bad luck with this particular restaurant, but have received some feedback from fans of the 'Lady' and I'll give it another go sometime.
I think LadyMarmalade hit the nail on the head - sometimes my reviews don't reflect the majority, by means of my experience with that business (ie. bad day etc...) or my taste. I do take reader feedback seriously and will re-review when that appears to be the case.
Others clearly see conflict where I haven't and that's fair. I may not agree with the perception, but I'll consider it when making future decisions.
I am planning some design changes to the website to more clearly distinguish my opinions from my business. I'm not happy with the current presentation - it doesn't serve either purpose as well as it might.

This has happened to me many times -- I go to a place others (either here on in my immediate circle of friends) think is fine, and I walk out thinking, "man, that was ___ [fill in the blank: awful, average, rude service, terrible, etc.]" Admittedly it's a good idea to keep listening and giving the place another chance. But at the same time, I think there's a real problem with places building up a reputation that can't be assailed, and if you then say, "hey, I didn't like it that much," everyone thinks you're a goofball. Especially here, because it's so "close-knit" (read: in-bred) -- and I don't see why anyone should give in to that. Conversely, when a business is starting out, there's this idea that it should be "protected" from "excessive" criticism. Again, I disagree. You learn from criticism. No criticism (read: feed-back), no learning from mistakes. There should be competition (and criticism), not the expectation that just because you work hard and insane hours, you get a break.I'm looking forward to a positive experience at Lady Marmalade. I've clearly had some bad luck with this particular restaurant, but have received some feedback from fans of the 'Lady' and I'll give it another go sometime.
I don't see the conflict that one or two other posters here have seen. Critique is good, as far as I'm concerned, and just because you have your own business in this space doesn't mean that you can't comment on other businesses. Critically.Others clearly see conflict where I haven't and that's fair. I may not agree with the perception, but I'll consider it when making future decisions.

My partner and I had another stellar breakfast there on Canada Day. Our server named Keah, who is in this months EAT, was awesome.
Thanks again.
