Anyone have any thoughts on why the TC has been putting in these anti ECHL columns the last couple of days? I mean are there really that many people that would rather watch WHL over ECHL? Why? I mean I love to see Victoria hang on to this train till we can have an AHL team. why go down in quality when you can look towards moving up?
Nothing anti-ECHL about them. Cleve Dheensaw is in my corner.
Great three pages of articles in Sundays' Monitor.
BTW, if anyone want to go to the Wednesday game drop into Soprano's any time (between 12noon and 2am) before 3pm Wednesday, and you can pick up tickets for just $12 for the game vs. Bakersfield on Wednesday, October 31st. They'll accept cash or Visa/MC/Amex/debit. That's a $9 savings off the walk-up SK ticket price.
Plus it gets better!
Your game ticket will also get you into Soprano's afterwards for an 80's dance party featuring The Usual Suspects, a great 80's rock cover band. Go here to listen to their fabulous sound: http://www.usual-sus....ca/default.asp
A Salmon Kings game for just $12, plus a FREE after-party! You can't beat that!

To coin a phrase, "Houston, they had a problem (with scoring)".

Are mid season departures a common occurrence in the ECHL?
The leading scorer in the league is bound to leave.
Any AHL team that wanted him can have him, if he wants to go. No ECHL team would block the move, the key to recruiting is showing the ability of your players to move up.

I would have thought they'd have contracts for an entire year and could be free to leave once their contract expired. So any player who starts to show an ability above that of the average ECHL player is bound to leave mid-season?
Not to rag on the Salmon Kings, but it's lame to see a team start doing well and then falter after the star player picks up his bags and takes off.

That's bizarre.

It used to happen alot back when the WHL was more of a direct feeder to NHL. They'd call up drafted players.
It works the other way too. For example, Manitoba (AHL) sent us two defencemen this week, as we were down to just 5.

Have we seen an increase in fan support to correspond to the winning team?
Not a whole lot. 4300 last night. Our last three games were over 5000.
