Aastra's shots from MtT got me thinking.... that really is a great spot to view the city, but it needs more commercialism. How about a food kiosk? And more trails.

And a waterslide from the top to the McDonald's parking lot.

And a cable-car ride between Mt. Tolmie and Mt. Doug.

^Nice! I can only imagine what a ticket would cost!

The closest place to Mt. Tolmie I can think of is Piazza Michelangelo in Florence, Italy. The view of the city from the mountain[/url:850ec] is spectacular, but turn around to see the ugly parking lot[/url:850ec] filled with tour buses and tacky souvenir vendors.

I've been there. I was on a tour and a photographer shinnied up a light pole to get a cool picture of our entire group from above.

That light pole probably wouldn't have been there if not for that parking lot.

Or maybe it would have.

How about rotating trams, a la Palm Springs:

See? Light poles in parking lots are very useful. No parking lots, no light poles.

I'd like to climb up one of those titanic light poles at Ogden Point and get some pictures from there. There are rungs just waiting to be climbed. But you'd need a ladder to get up to the point where the rungs begin.

I like the idea of having a huge waterslide from the top of the mountain all the way down to McDonalds Parking lot....that would be one crazy ass water slide ride!!

Instead of playing roller hockey on the reservoir maybe they could refill the reservoir with mud...and we could have an Olympic Mud Wrestling competition during 2010.

That's crazy.

But the waterslide idea is pretty good.
