And yet we still paid out big time to the developer under mayor Lowe when his administration reneged on the already approved marina plan. Remember that lawsuit?
That lawsuit is part of the "Planning Law" course syllabus at McGill

It looks great when there are boats parked next to it. It lights up the white fiberglass with a cold blue glow. By themselves, the lights are pretty meh.
Hopefully the marina will busy through the summer.
You nailed it. The lighting was designed to be low-level but elegant... all facing in to the marina to reflect of the white hulls. The colour and lighting-level will be adjustable once the controllers are installed... in the next week or so. For now we are stuck with one color and one intensity.

According to K-A-Y the End Times were well and nigh should this abomination ever see the light of day. The mere existence of said facility would cause the dead to arise and dogs and cats would engage in unnatural relations and ultimately force God to smote Victoria out of its earthly existence...except......wait! none of that...um....actually happened and we now have as a result a nice facility with some uber-cool architecture and badly needed services on our harbour to boot. So much for the gloom and doomers....
There have been sightings of zombies in Songhees. Just sayin....

Why don't we have more photos of the marina progress? Gary, can you get us some?
For VHF, wherever you are...
I don't know, aesthetically, while the exterior has some interesting shapes, its complete lack of color / texture variation seems out of place. Its monotone silver-gray and glass and comes across as a bit too industrial, especially on the northern promenade corner. Even a little wood trim would have gone a long way. Hopefully the Boom & Batten will mix it up a bit.

Really looking forward to Boom & Batten...
DItto. I am hopeful they'll have some amazing outdoor space...and great food of course too.

Cool Reflections...
The window tinting is creating some cool looking purple water refractions. The camera caught what we saw with our eyes. The large yacht was flying a Jamaican flag - and check out those wipers on the sporty white yacht.

Wouldn't a marina need the appropriate inspections in order to obtain an occupancy permit? I don't see why not. Fire, electrical etc?
There may be Provincial and Federal hoops to jump through as well as local.

It may have provisional occupancy, i.e. the marina is good to go but one more of the buildings hasn't had final inspection yet. It's a relatively common thing for mixed use buildings, so I don't see why not for a marina.

Nope, soft opening was June 4th.
Like I said ... it doesn't look very busy.
The marina is open for business ... from their Facebook page:
The Victoria International Marina is #OceansApart as British Columbia's newest marina situated in Victoria's middle harbour. Catering to those yachts 65' to 175', it is currently taking reservations for July 1. Book any 3 nights between June 29 through to July 2, and receive your 4th night free

I used to be outraged because the mega-yachts of the super rich were going to block the view, but now I'm even more outraged because the mega-yachts of the super rich aren't there.

Not razzing Cassidy so much as predicting some opinion item in the TC or wherever.

So how do we feel about this marina? Has it lived up the years of controversy? To my eye it looks very small and inoffensive, but I await the arrival of some big boats.
