On the surface this seems like a reasonable statement, but in my experience there has never been any noticeable food scarcity since the start of the pandemic.

It’s been the worst I’ve ever seen in terms of food purchasing. Two weeks ago mushrooms were nearly unavailable due to a covid outbreak on the farm, for example. These sorts of issues are ongoing.

lack of mushrooms is not a "food security" issue though.  sure there are market forces that affect supply of certain items at certain times.  but there is no chance for a massive shortage.

And no one's going hungry from lack of food.

Perhaps they should build a toilet paper plant.

I recall meat being a bit short at the start of the pandemic, signs all over Save On Foods limiting people to buying two packs of any meat.  Now it seems like toilet paper and paper towel is perpetually on sale.
