The venerable institution Foo Hong in historic Chinatown is for sale. A mere $77,000 yields up some classic neon and booths and some vintage coca-cola advertising.

oh that place is great, used to go there all the time when I was a kid, don't know what it's like now though. we should all go in together and buy the place and keep it just the way it is.

I hope someone does just that. It is still wonderful, and my favourite place to have lunch in Chinatown - greasy spoon and all.

When I heard it was for sale, I dragged my girlfriend there for one last meal, while telling her the tale of this legendary restaurant that hasn't changed since I first ate there 30 years ago. Our meal, however, was bland and underwhelming. She has yet to forgive me.

You failed to pre-sell her on the idea that bland and underwhelming is a mark of authenticity!

Bland and underwhelming is right. The quality of their food has tanked over the years.

Dare I say that I hope the wallpaper doesn't change?

There's a lot of bio-fuel trapped in that old velvet wallpaper.

It's a lot of money for a name and fancy neon. The rent is good but the equipment is old.
The place is surprising clean for an old Chinatown restaurant.

Now that this once-legendary restaurant has closed its doors and stripped the greasy velvet wallpaper off the interior, a notice in the window alerts us to the fact that it will one day become a noodle house.

the new owner of the business is the same person that had Sushi Rock Cafe on the corner on Government and Pandora as well as the noodle shop between QV's and Brasserie L'ecole

I went there and had the coconut milk and chicken vegetable noodle soup on special for $7 (regularly $8). It was amazing!!! I was so impressed I went back and had it again the next day. And I will probably go have it again on Tuesday!

They do only a few items - all involving the noodles which they make fresh every day. You can get won tons, chow mien, noodle soup, udon... And all of them are absolutely delicious. What they do, they do well.

Also you can buy the fresh noodles to bring home.

Two doors down from the gate on Fisgard north side of the street.
