I guess you didn’t bother to read the article. Has nothing to do with her.

How do you mean it has nothing to do with her. She was the CEO of the organization which is being described as in turmoil. She has nothing to do with the lawsuit (I didn't suggest she was).

She’s been hired solely based on her heritage/bloodline. Period. Very shameful. Especially since she was raised in a mostly white/European household.

I think it is hard to jump to that conclusion but looking at her background it is hard to see any organizational leadership experience with the exception of her last job which ended with "the organization in turmoil" according to media reports.

The job at the RBCM isn't going to be an easy one with lots of competing interests at stake. I would have thought that the role would have been suited to someone with experience in this type of work.

Maybe they wanted a complete outsider to fill the role while they regain their footing.

The museum is in damage control from multiple angles and they’re entering a period of having to plan for the next 50 years. It’s going to be tough going no matter what happens.

Know it all.

I think it is hard to jump to that conclusion

Her mom is European white and her dad is at best 1/4 native. Maybe less.

That’s the conclusion.

But why hire somebody who is literally in the middle of a huge class action sexual harassment lawsuit that likely won't be settled for many months, if not years?

She obviously quit her former position because this all happened on her watch, and as is always the case when employees are abused by their managers, the **** flows uphill and always lands on the CEO's desk.

She not only seems a terrible hire from that point of view, but she also seems miserably unqualified for the job she's been handed at the RBCM.

They hired her because she claims indigenous ancestry. That’s the only reason.

As if that is even a good reason, but it suits the NDP.

The alleged sexual assault occurred at an organization run by one of her directors. Why she left abruptly is unknown.

This outlines her career background pretty well. As usually Vic Watcher has no clue what he’s talking about.

Ya that does not cover her “indegenous” 1/8 background.

It also quotes Carole James, who has two children also under qualified for the public funded funded jobs / job they hold.

Weak sauce.

Lots of pigs at the public trough here.

Compare her resume to that of Jack Lohman.

It’s a blatant gender and diversity hire.

As usual m3m has no clue what he’s talking about.

— The CEO of the Royal B.C. Museum (RBCM) announced to staff Tuesday he is resigning, two months after a diversity and inclusion consultant deemed the institution a “dysfunctional and toxic workplace — characterized by a culture of fear and distrust.”

Jack Lohman, hired as CEO in 2012, wrote in an email to staff that the museum needs “new energy and fresh leadership.” He said his resignation is a joint decision with the museum’s board.

“We’re really hoping that these senior leadership changes lead to the changes that our members have been calling for, which is a safe, healthy, inclusive work site,” she said.

Melanie Mark, minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, said in a statement that the museum is working on modernizing its workplace culture and becoming a safe and inclusive place to work.

“I hope that a change in leadership will contribute to helping the museum heal and develop a more culturally safe and inclusive work environment,” she said.

Reading her resume, I’d stay they hired based on merit and the criteria above…. Equity hire? What bullshit. You’d only be happy with an old white dude.

...You’d only be happy with an old white dude.

And you'd never hire "an old white dude" even he was the most qualified.

A job REQUIREMENT is this:

Lived experience within an equity seeking group.

It’s 1000% an equity hire.

So the job was not open to all qualified applicants.

I think the fact that the job requires someone from an "equity seeking background" makes it an "equity hire". White, Indian or Asian people need not apply.

Going by her CV and not the RBCM press release it is hard to see where she has the background experience to run the RBCM but that of course doesn't mean that she can't. My concern, as I stated, is the fact that she left abruptly from her last job leaving the organization in 'turmoil' according to the media.

It is ironic that the RBCM board claims that they want a museum representation with more diverse background yet the only people they seem to want to appoint to the board and into senior roles are FN. Where are the black, Asian, Latino, and Indian community members to represent the broader community?!

She never lived on a native reserve.  She grew up in Fort McMurray, daughter of an oil worker.  Not even sure she has has much "lived experience".   Her only museum experience is on the Ontario Museum board.  She worked for a bank and an energy company.

It went to Technoking! He has begun openly mocking the title of CEO, for what it's worth.
