Not sure if this is out of line with forum policy but sometimes you run across good honest businesses that deserve a pat on the back.
If its ok with the mods, I'd like to offer two local businesses that deserve a nod IMO.
1) All Victoria Vacuums: twice I went there with a very minor problem I couldn't fix. I was willing to pay them $10 or $20 but both times they took a few minutes to explain how I could do the job in five minutes and save myself the money.

2) ABC Electric: they know their stuff and they have the products.

We do it on the restaurant thread all the time, so I don't see an issue.

Likewise, Fairfield Bikes:

I once took a busted tricycle and a crying toddler into there, looking for a replacement rear wheel. The mechanic popped the trike up on the stand and very solemnly inspected it, while addressing his questions and comments to my little boy. He pulled a wheel out of a drawer somewhere, swapped it on, tested it (checked the rear axle for alignment, of all things), and gave the li'l red trike back to my son.

n/c.

I've bought every bike I own there, since.

^ Great story!

I will admit that I am partial to North Park Bikes too though.

I'll second All Victoria Vacuums and ABC Electric. Both are solid locally owned business worthy of patronage. All Victoria Vacuum told me they'd match Internet prices for any vacuum they carry.

Since bike shops seem to be the topic i've always like Russ Hays bikes, they've always given me excellent service and impressed me by how little they charge.

I'm also a big fan of London Drugs. It's like a miniature department store with lower prices.

Ya, I'll give a heads-up to London Drugs, I go there for lots of stuff. I don't really find their service exceptional, but I go there lots for some reason, so they must be doing something right, I just can't quite put my finger on it.
