Off topic but I'm not a fan of this project.

Anyone have any rumour updates on potential redevelopment of Floyd's, Ageless Living, and/or Ming's? I just want a glimmer of hope that I won't have to look at these fenced up buildings for years to come.

Something’s afoot but nothing concrete just yet.
Nothing concrete? Alas, a wood-framed development must be planned for the property ...

So at this point, nothing's been nailed down.

Don't think so. They're still hammering out the details.

I guess I'll just have to wait until someone gets this story on the level.

This sounds like the start of another Aastraism.
What an honour to have an ism named after you!

Let's not start a schism about isms. The mods will have aneurysms.

The mods view aastra as more of an itis.
He's got some inflammation going on does he?

1042-1044 Richardson Street, as previously mentioned, is proposed as a new rental development in Fairfield. More information is available now.
- The proposal is for a 6-storey building with 4 3-bedroom units, 14 1-bedroom units, and 1 bachelor unit (19 in total)
- 5 of the 19 units will be affordable
- Developer is a numbered company with Bart Johnson's involvement, Christine Lintott is architect

I wasn't sure where to put this, but there was a sizeable crew at the big abandoned building in Chinatown sandwiched between the two parking lots this morning. I saw some people coming in with a scissor lift. Anyone know what's happening here?

Is that part of the next Ironworks phase?

I don't believe so. My understanding is that future phases will continue up Caledonia Street on the same side of the block as Ironworks phase 1, then they'd construct a building on Herald between StudioY Design and Chesterfields. I wish that was the case though. That parking lot is a big gaping hole in north Old Town.

This whole section of Old Town/Chinatown is prime for redevelopment. Hopefully the success of Ironworks will encourage others.

Exactly. If you take the parking lots on both sides, and the building itself, that is a massive urban lot. Whatever goes there has to be simpatico with the whole Chinatown vibe, to keep the area thriving.
