It does seem a little odd that they would be investing money renovating a property that must be under serious consideration for redevelopment.

Not necessarily. Who knows how much money they make as a McDonalds

A 4-unit condo building has been proposed to replace the single family house located across from Beacon Hill Park at 956 Heywood.

It's only 4 units but will have underground parking. These are going to be pricey. Currently this:

Underground parking for four units seems a bit overkill, but I guess the intention is to maximize the use of the parcel and not use space at grade for parking.

^ Also, secure underground parking would be de rigueur for anyone selling a very expensive, high end condo.

Don't be so sure.

This proposal is now dead.  At least it will be when the new council is sworn.

I am certain approving the construction of 4 high-end condos will be at the top of LeftCouncil's agenda.

I could be wrong, but if the proposal falls within existing zoning (and I believe it does) then council approval would not be required as it would not be subject to a public hearing.

I’m really liking this proposal and ones like this we’ve seen in the past decade.

I think they’ll have the enduring quality and charm as the well built apartment buildings from the 1950s and 1960. There’s a few in Victoria, but a lot more of those old gems in Vancouver, especially the Kits area.

We are the developers of that project and the building looks nothing like that haha. That is a really old concept sketch, but yeah we’ve totally redesigned it. It will be a 7-unit condo building, 4 storey with underground parking.

Damn, I would have finally been totally on board with a PPPdev proposal! ;)

Love to see more of this style vs. the company’s current design approach.

That's great infill! What are the unit types being considered (i.e. 1BR, 2BR)?
