That's the word on the street.

The space is going to be an enlarged or new spa facility.

An enlarged Hugo's facility sounds good.

a spa seems to fit the hotel better. I was surprised Hugo's was even there.

They are still listed as an exhibitor at the upcoming Beer Fest but I'm pretty sure my sources are good.

Back in it's day it was great, but has definitely got quieter lately. Maybe the Olson boys just figure they can absorb that traffic into Sticky Wicket/Element.

Does this mean that Sanuk Asian + Fusion (the restaurant, above) will close, too? Their food is wonderful, the taster menu is a real deal... Too bad if they leave/ change...

Went in there BC Day evening and was Completely Ignored by the staff of five who were managing about eight tables. Really too bad, because the menu looked great. We walked after ten minutes of standing around feeling stupid.

Yesterday afternoon I ran into a waitress that used to work there. She said the place is not making cash.

That's too bad. There's nothing like bad or snooty/ attitude service to set a bad tone. Maybe they're off-track because they know they're in limbo or closing, but that doesn't excuse being ignored or getting bad service.

The thing of it is that the best method of dealing with shitty service and snotty (or snooty) attitude is to return it in kind. Sad, but most often true.

That aside, I shall miss Hugo's stout.

That's too bad. Inept service is becoming a plague in this city.

One thing I'll miss about Hugo's was its Super-G ginseng cream ale. Anyone know if another brewer in town plans to pick up the recipe?

Went twice to Hugo's and thought it was odd: lounge decor/look but loud metal music blasting out. We wanted a quiet drink with friends and couldn't hear ourselves think.
Went twice to Sanuk, to me it was neither this nor that and totally blanded out.
Just my 2 cents.

Digging up an old thread to ask a quick question:

While this thread tells me when Hugo's closed, can anyone tell me when it opened, or opened as Hugo's?  It certainly wasn't always there...

It was definitely after 1995 when I moved here and it was before 1998 as I remember being there that year... Sorry I couldn't be more helpful than that.

Hands down, it was my favourite bar while it was open. I had some good times there, for sure.
