The Eighth Annual Free-B Film Festival. Tonight: The Princess Bride at Cameron Bandshell, Beacon Hill Park, 9 p.m. Free. Bring your own snacks, flashlights and blankets.

I'm going to this. Too bad events like this happen only a few days out of the year.
"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

I agree. There used to be films shown in the evenings shortly after the 'new' bandstand was built in the late 1940s. They weren't movies but more like travel logs or NFB features.

Ah yes...the epic 'How to Use a Step Ladder' series. Those were the days...

I saw Yellow Submarine last year. Very cool. The rest of this year's lineup:

Forbidden Planet
Sat, Aug 23rd • General; 99 min
The sci-fi story that ushered in a new era for the silver screen! On the edge of the galaxy, a strange invisible monster threatens to destroy a lost expedition before they can discover the secrets of the long-dead civilization that once populated a strange and fantastic world.

The Goonies
Fri, Aug 29th • PG (may frighten young children, course language); 114 min.
Get your 80s on because "The Goonies" is back! A mysterious pirate treasure map takes a group of kids on a perilous journey through an old and secret series of caves. Fighting to save their home from an evil developer, those caves will take them on the greatest adventure of their lives...

Bikini Beach
Sat, Aug 30th • General; 100 min
Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello: need we say more? The usual gang of suspects is back for big hi-jinx and slapstick laughs on the surf and on the sand when a millionaire sets out to prove his pet theory about the local teenage population and their strange little surf-happy lifestyle.

All shows 9PM at the Cameron Bandshell!

Funny, Goonies was on TV this morning. My girlfriend couldn't believe I hadn't seen it before. I think this will be a good movie for grownups to see with kids. Lots of fun moments and catchphrases.

"Butch Cassidy" is a B-movie? Won four Oscars, nominated for Film and Director of the Year, v. popular in on-line polls. Glad they're playing it, but Grindhouse it ain't :)

Yes, they apologize a bit for the show title this year, they got better movies then even they hoped for.

This year the opening night will be on the Legislature lawn!    http://www.freebfilmfest.com/

And they have Logan's Run, which they say is G-rated.  Hmm, I remember some decent nudity in it, it must be cut out.
