Bobby would make a better president than Newt or Sarah. Too bad he hasn't thrown his hat in the ring. Don't count the Donald out as yet though.

Ten years after 9/11 the pointless "anti-terrorism" spending spree continues. Is it a matter of time before this phony window-dressing is installed at our ferry terminals?

The U.S. Border Patrol is spending nearly $6 million to renovate a Port Angeles building that could house up to 50 of its agents.
Prior to the attacks of September 11, 2001, four agents were stationed in Port Angeles, a city of about 20,000 people some 15 miles across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Canada.
[...]
"They park across the street from Hispanic grocery stores and taco stands and watch who comes and goes," according to Danks.
[...]
"The taxpayers are paying us all this extra money to do nothing on this peninsula, where it's a water-based border," [border agent] Sanchez said

"Beaver, ahoy!""The bridge is like a magnet, attracting both pedestrians and over 30,000 vehicles daily who enjoy the views of Victoria's harbour. The skyline may change, but "Big Blue" as some call it, will always be there."

I'm actually surprised that we're allowed on the vehicle decks while the ship is underway. I know it is prohibited on the Coho.

I'm also surprised that the US 1)allows the ferries to travel through US water, and 2) doesn't require passenger lists since the ferries travel through US water.

I'm sure the time will come that we have to get to the terminal 2 hrs early so each car can be sniffed by dogs and checked with bomb inspection mirrors.

An airstrike that killed at least 16 people in a hospital run by Médecins Sans Frontières in the Afghan city of Kunduz on Saturday was "utterly tragic, inexcusable, and possibly even criminal," the UN human rights chief said.

"The seriousness of the incident is underlined by the fact that, if established as deliberate in a court of law, an airstrike on a hospital may amount to a war crime."

Fighting has raged around the northern provincial capital of Kunduz as government forces backed by American air power seek to drive out Taliban militants who seized the city six days ago in the biggest victory of their nearly 14-year insurgency.

The U.S. military on Saturday acknowledged it may have bombed the hospital.

Is it odd that they conceived 2 of their 3 children while they were being held hostage?

Don't tell me the Taliban healthcare plan (OmarCare©, as it's colloquially known) does not cover birth control products...

The senior US official said Joshua Boyle refused to board a US military C-130 bound for the US because "he thinks he will face law enforcement and possible arrest," though there is no indication at this time that he will face arrest.
The official said there are some questions surrounding his past. Boyle was previously married to the sister of Omar Kadhr, a Canadian citizen who was imprisoned for 10 years at the US detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, after fighting US troops in Afghanistan. Kadhr later sued the Canadian government for violating international law by allegedly not protecting its citizen and conspiring with his US captors, who he says abused him.

Oh, brother.  Maybe it would have been better to leave them in Pakistan.

Joshua Boyle is the second of five children of Patrick and Linda Boyle. He attended a Mennonite school and was involved with his mother's "Anglican church and his father’s Catholic faith."[8] He graduated with a B.A. from the University of Waterloo in 2005.[9][10] He is known by his friends as a pacifist.[11] Boyle expressed interest in doing humanitarian work in places known to be dangerous.[12]

Boyle had a long-standing interest in Islamic terrorism, stating in 2009 that “anything related to terrorism on Wikipedia, I wrote, pretty much.” He took an interest in the Gitmo detainee, Omar Khadr and married Omar's sister Zaynab Khadr in 2009 becoming her third husband. At the time Boyle was believed by co-workers to be, or perhaps converting to become, Muslim taking prayer breaks at work at appropriate times.[12] Boyle first received press coverage in 2009 after an attack on his father's home. During his marriage to Zaynab, Boyle's parents' Ottawa house was fired upon and ransacked by an intruder but no valuable were taken. Boyle believed it was related to his marriage to "a woman who had ties to Osama bin Laden

Odd story continues.

Taliban always take credit for creating terror actually denying this one.
