This sign has to fall into the same category (OK maybe not quite) as Ian's coffee shop. We will not see this very much longer.
I have a soft spot for old neon signs, especially when it advertises **rn. Somebody please save this. It's too big for my garagemahal. (read man cave)

Surely it's not too big to mount outside your garage?

It's Wing Lee.
I used to deal with David Leung, he was a good guy.

Oh, I think he is a customer of ours for other buildings. Thanks for that VHF. Don't tell Mrs. Sparky.

When it was stolen last time they said they were going to to secure it better. At the time I thought, we'll see.
A panel of the mural depicting Marilyn Monroe has once again gone missing from the side of Floyd’s Diner at Quadra and Yates streets.
Someone made off with the panel showing the late actress’s head early Thursday. The other two panels were left in rough shape, said diner manager Emily Schlagintweit.
It’s the second time Marilyn has gone missing. The mural was stolen Aug.1 last year but was found two weeks later in an alley behind a garbage bin.
Police are investigating, Schlagintweit said.

Aug 20, 2015Political signs ousted in Oak BayOak Bay council meets early this morning (Aug. 21) to address its sign bylaw that does not allow for the current 78-day federal election campaign. With the election slated for Oct. 19, campaigning started as soon as the writ was dropped earlier this month. Oak Bay’s sign bylaw states signs can go up no more than 30 days before an election.“There were a few removed the week before last in accordance with our bylaw,” said Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen. “We realized the bylaw didn’t contemplate a 78-day election campaign. It was really designed for your 37-day election campaign.”He called a special council meeting for 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21 to deal with the issue and sort out the enforcement policy.Staff use discretion with signs that warn of deer and support the CBC, which appear throughout the community.

I think 30 days is enough of a time period for political signs. Most people already know who not to vote for.

Oak Bay NewsAug 24, 2015 at 9:00 AMOak Bay grants leeway for election signsCampaign sings popping up on lawns may be in technical contravention with Oak Bay’s sign bylaw, but council told staff to not enforce the policy due to an unusual set of circumstances.“It is important to the election process that we deal with this,” Jensen said. “We can, and have in the past, provided enforcement policy … in a very general nature.”Oak Bay’s sign bylaw that doesn’t allow for the unusual 78 days between when the election was called and the Oct. 19 voting day. Oak Bay’s sign bylaw states signs can go up no more than 30 days before an election.“It’s never been a problem in my experience in a federal or provincial election,” said mayor Nils Jensen during a special council held Friday morning specifically to address the issue. That section of the bylaw was likely “created in the way it was due to esthetics,” Jensen said, avoiding an overload of signs blighting the landscape which he called a “laudable goal.”Amending the bylaw would take four to six weeks so council opted to ask staff to disregard that portion of the bylaw related to campaign signs. Staff also use discretion with enforcement of signs that warn of deer and support the CBC, which appear throughout the community.........see more: http://www.oakbaynew.../322697441.html

The large video sign at Save On Foods Memorial Centre is covered on both sides with static material signage. One side for the Hedley Show and the other for the Royals.
Did the video break?
Posted 18 January 2016 - 06:23 PM
Yup. The screen has been broken for many months now.
