Can’t a store give you a free bag by knocking the price of your bill down the cost of a bag .Personally that’s what I’d do .

I recently bought something and the sales person just put it in a bag with the logo on it.

Not  asking anything  advertising their store free to me .I was thrilled someone breaking the rules .

No. The charge must be itemized on the receipt. They can charge whatever they want for the pants but the bag is non negotiable.

Ridiculous to even type.

Government is all about procedures, not outcomes, after all.

Instead, I have to buy multiple $2 plastic bags that contain like 50x the plastic of a regular plastic bag, and which I regularly throw out because they get dirty.

It’s a great analogy for most of government’s modern era pursuits, including the EV thing.

It's weird how political environmentalism often produces an ever bigger boon for the established petro-chemical industries. Not to mention mountains of new waste. Completely by accident, of course. For decades running.

Political environmentalism and genuine environmental responsibility are like oil and water (pun intended).

Do you mean that they are not giving you a bag to carry your purchases in?

You have to pay for it.

No wonder I buy so much stuff from Amazon.

They didn’t charge me for the bag seriously . I’m not about to say what they sell and this has only happened once but no charge.  Like I said breaking the rules . They were busy put it in a bag and handed it to me

I see more and more stores asking me for a bag after the purchase, so even the retailers are getting tired of the rules, I suppose.

What we really need is a government hotline to report these stores for their infractions. Maybe a direct line to the local police.
