She was also instrumental in setting up the Saint Anne's Rescue Community Coalition with David Turner and other socialists.

The SARCC worked in tandem with the Greater Victoria Concerned Citizens' Association, the legal arm of the Concerned Citizens, to stop inappropriate commercialization and privitization of Saint Anne's through complementary lawsuits.

Eventually, those lawsuits which cost both groups many thousands of dollars and dragged on for years, were successful in frustrating the developer Peter Daniel who defaulted on his lease arrangement with the Provincial Capital Commission.

David Turner then went on to have himself elected as a one term mayor of Victoria... but he turned out to be a disappointment for many.

What were her actions?

Who were you? A student? Faculty?

Those are pretty serious allegations. Care to delve deeper?

You must supply more substantive evidence in order for others to take your accusations seriously.

Yeah, I can't believe anyone would start rumours about other people that didn't have any facts to go along with it, that would be, well, unconscionable.

No, I think you're doing exactly what you accuse this person of. You've come out of nowhere to anonymously spread rumours about someone. How do we know anything you say is true? Do you not see the hypocrisy in what you're doing? You are doing exactly what you accuse this other person of doing, spreading nasty rumours. I don't know sue and I don't know you but all I see is someone making extremely nasty accusations against someone running for office without giving any evidence or even fully explaining the accusations. Normally throwing rumours like this around isn't treated seriously, but public accusations like this against someone right before an election could easily be seen as libel.

Yeah, this is getting boring. Politics at UVic? I'm shocked--shocked at such an allegation.

Karma, if you are willing to provide concrete information and sources about the allegations, that's one thing, but this sub-forum is focused on candidate slates and is not a rumour mill.

Since I am mentioned here I thought I would respond quickly.

I hope you are all aware I am not on the left side of the spectrum - I was, sort of, in my youth but that was then and this is now. I also stand by my comment that Gregory Hartnell sounds like angry older middle aged white guy, I base that on what he posts here.

As to the accusations being made here, I honestly can not think of what this person is referring to. I served on the AMS board of directors in 1984/85. I was 19 at the time and an ordinary director.

The executive at the time was Rosemin Keshvani as president, Len Molden as VP Services, Michelle Aucoin as VP Finance and Mike Peterson as VP Programs. Someone else was initially elected as president in the spring but resigned over the summer when I was working up north, I can not remember her name.

Sue Stroud worked for the Alliance to Defend Education at the time - a group jointly funded by the AMS and the Faculty Association to lobby against the funding cuts to Universities at the time. Her office was referred to many people in the building at the time as revolution central.

The AMS at the time was stridently political. We spend student money supporting Nicaragua and came close to sending money to the striking coal miners in the UK. The hubris of youth being in charge of a something infected most of us, Mike Peterson was the voice of reason most of the time.

So in closing, once again, I really can not think of what Karma is referring to.

Karma has only provided the vaguest insinuations with absolutely no specifics. But before s/he posted here, s/he sent several people private messages with the same allegations. Talk about whisper campaigns...

Seems the Peninsula Coop got involved in the Central Saanich election. Here is what Sue Stroud has to say on that

The issue is about them spending $16 000 backing pro development candidates
