I think it had been in drydock in Esquimalt, not Point Hope. The ship is gone now. It leaves tomorrow from Vancouver on a three-day repositioning cruise down to L.A.

I have friends taking that cruise. I'll see if I can get them to give me a report how ship-shape the ship is after its Esquimalt stay.

^ The cruise ship, Star Princess, in the background of your photos Bingo just arrived here for refit rom Los Angeles. Nice to see that Point Hope is attracting business from the big players.
We were on that ship from LA on it's way up for the work. here is a shot from a video of Mrs. Sparky and I on the big screen at the launch party in LA.
Everybody seemed to have a good time.
Nice boat, lots to do and lots to eat.
We took the Star Princess up to Alaska at the end of August!

Is that why it needed to go in for repairs?

I don't think the marine railway at Point Hope can handle the Star Princess.

When I first heard from our stateroom steward that the ship was headed to Victoria for refit, I thought why the hell are they kicking us off in Vancouver when we could catch a ride all the way to Victoria. I could just jump off at the Empress and go for tea.
So I had this picture in my mind that it was headed to Point Hope.
It would never fit in there. This thing is huge.
I had a brain fart. Please forgive me.

Our local folks are very skilled at making things fit.
For instance the bridge channel would need to be widened, and then another duplicate version of the new bridge built on the west side of the harbour to create a double leaf bascule.
And it is not too late to build a larger graving dock at Point Hope. The dredge is already working in the harbour so that larger ships can get in.
Piece of CAKE.

From my friends on the Princess repositioning cruise:
...Somewhat disappointed with ship. New mattresses and deck chairs but torn mactac on our room fridge, very obvious patch on balcony, just a bunch if little things...
To be fair these folks are more Royal Caribbean types.

By cruise ship standards it is old.

I think they assumed that the recent drydock time would have enabled things to sparkle a bit more.

Usually in those short dockings they only:
Get recertified to operate (inspected)
Do some deep cleaning
Overhaul major equipment like main engines and generators
Repaint the hull
Replace cathodic protection
This was a really short docking.

I've seen refits at the drydock that have also included new carpeting, drapes and cushions for furniture.
