Aren't most of the floors not actually finished yet? They're probably just finishing the remaining floors maybe?

Yes, I believe they still had floors to do. But it still seems odd to close the entire hotel. That's sort of why you usually do it a floor or section at a time, so you don't need a full closure.

Might be better to close for the slowish season and just get it all done with, rather then drag it out over a couple years and in the mean time piss off everyone that's staying in the adjacent floors?

Unless it's something with the plumbing, electrical or HVAC that affects the whole building. Although I know you can usually separate that off too. I know I was surprised to look up and see the floors gutted to the metal studs. I had thought it was all done a couple of years ago.

The are major guts of entire areas of the hotel to bring up to a modern standard. Unless you want to charge people 20 bucks a stay while hardwood is installed above you this seems to make sense to me. Upset future clients and get a bunch of bad reviews on tripadvisor for the renos or close and then make up the money with increased room rates and get nice reviews.

I'm not suggesting any deep conspiracy here, I just thought the hotel already had a huge makeover, presumably starting with the top floor(s), which would invalidate your hardwood flooring idea, somewhat.

I do however, suggest some conspiracy by admins here in that I could not find a hotel thread, or even this Rialto thread this morning. :)

The Rialto is not complete...so I dont know why this thread says "complete". Just last week I drove by and a crane was lifting drywall from the street to an upper floor window so clearly the hotel portion is not complete.
