If that's the case, Reid would have to win the last 2 polls by roughly a 2 to 1 margin. And that's unlikely.

North Saanich. Former councillor Alice Finall beat two-term mayor Ted Daly for the top job.

Probably the most left leaning group in Victoria in recent history. The "business community" will be having a cow.

CFAX just reported 14/15 polls:

Fortin 7202
Reid 6808

Last poll delayed because of digital-memory screwup by one of those damn Diebold voting machines!

CFAX is saying that it looks like Dean Fortin. Up by 400 votes with 1 polling station left.

So where are the Coucil results? They are far more important than the Mayor.

i signed a form stating that the box for the advance hospital poll was empty before they started counting.

and as for diebold (who have changed their name to premier voting machines in the US to escape their well deserved negative image) - what kind of incompetence is responsible for a design where merely removing a memory chip can damage it?

i hadn't realized that diebold had snuck their malicious tentacles into canada. i so don't need a new crusade.

Unofficially,
Fortin 7710
Reid 7105

VICTORIA, BC — Results from all 15 polling stations have been tabulated; however one electronic card, from the James Bay Community School polling station, was faulty and the ballots are being manually entered again. Therefore final numbers for the entire election are delayed.

It is extremely rare for a card to fail. However, the information is captured on three print outs at the close of the polling station. The numbers from the printouts are known but overall totals for the election cannot be tabulated without all ballots from that polling station being reentered.

However, regardless of the final numbers, the unofficial results are:

Mayor
Dean Fortin

Councillors: (in no order)
Sonya Chandler
Christopher Coleman
Lynn Hunter
Philippe Lucas
John Luton
Pamela Madoff
Charlayne Thornton-Joe
Geoff Young

Final numbers for each candidate, total voter turnout, school trustees and CRD directors will be distributed to media as soon as possible.
