What's happening with this place? It's at the corner of Government/Pandora & judging by the signs on the windows it looks like it's is/was going to be chinese noodle place. It doesn't look like it's going to be open for business anytime soon & has looked like that for a couple months now I think.

I'm not sure what happened to Sushi Rock. I used to live across the street and would go there all the time, then one day we walked by and it was closed and devoid of furniture. We used to talk to the owner went we went in and he never gave an indication that they were closing down. It was really sudden and I haven't heard any explanation from anyone as to what happened.

I lived on Fisgard, not (I'm assuming the Vogue is on) Pandora.

Sushi Rock was discussed quite a bit in the Sushi thread.

For me, I say good riddance but others disagree, notably the Times Colonist's Pam Grant, who gave it a good review and included in in her column last week on restaurants of 2008:

2008 was an interesting year, which saw closures of a few places that should have stayed open, including Sushi Rock Café, Wren and Verjus, while other places that prey on tourists and should have been closed years ago remain in business.

The owner of Sushi Rock started out making noodles down in the next block of C-town, beside Brasserie L'ecole. Outstanding fresh noodles of all shapes and sizes and then *poof*, gone. Then he opened Sushi Rock.

it would be awesome if there were a restaurant where noodles were practically pulled to order:

I have a niggling feeling that the guy who took over Hime Sushi on Broughton between Douglas and Broad is a noodle artist.

I think I posted this same info elsewhere: The same person has now taken over Foo Hongs on Fisgard.

Nando's will be the best thing to hit Downtown Victoria... their chicken is so addictive! And for the price, absolutely nothing beats it!

Yes, he has. Too bad he couldn't have cleaned the place before opening the doors. Geez. How long had Foo Hongs been there?

Foo Hongs has been in business for a long time but the place is surprising clean. I looked at buying the business last year and was pleasantly surprised at how clean the space was. Unfortunately the prce was too much so you will have to wait for HotDogLegz Hamburgers to appear else where ....

I've been told that it is in fact a chicken place moving in to that location.

Does this mean the velvety green, gold-bamboo motif wallpaper is staying? If it does, I believe it can celebrate its ...oh, 37th or so anniversary this year.

Time for a petition to declare heritage status for certain wallcoverings...? :-)
