Is one of the garbage receptacles the intended pedestal?

Doesn't bronze turn green?

If left outdoors for a long time, yes. I made a small staue over 20 years ago that's hardly changed at all because it's always been indoors. I think most new statues like Todd's inter-species experiment above have a patina applied to speed up the process.

I like it better than the testicles on the front lawn of the Oak Bay Municipal Hall.

From the Cement bed near Beacon Hill Park to the Tulip Canoe in Bastion Square and on to the smashed shopping cart pile in front of the Fridge (arena)  it seems Victoria has only one artist that gets all the gigs and he sucks.  In fact some of the so-called public "art" in Victoria should be under the Victoria Crime thread.

"Commerce Canoe" is not by Mowry Baden (which is who designed the other two). It is actually red seed pods, and not tulips, that are in the canoe, BTW.

/also I like Mowry Baden's work.

Yep. Probably because I've seen full exhibitions of Baden's work, which is odd but interesting, and see it in that context. I can certainly understand why someone else might not care for it. But honestly, I don't think there is such a thing as interesting art that everyone likes.

Why do we need extra art pieces isn’t art already in everything “non natural” humans do?

Still more comfortable than most city benches. Loving the adirondack chairs by the johnson street bridge beyond genius.

Since you’re asking more useful art: picnic tables, benches, thrones, etc.

Soon to be relocated to the foot of the Johnson Street Bridge, if the City's plan goes ahead.

Read this and other stories in the latest issue of "NO SH!T, SHERLOCK" magazine, on newsstands now.
