Westshore-Parkway's-hillside-industrial-park-to-become-home-of-expanded-Galaxy-Motors-auto-dealership.jpg
Snaking its way up Westshore Parkway from Sooke Road in Langford is a new industrial park cut into the hillside. Colwood's Galaxy Motors will soon occupy multiple tiers at the terraced park as the company expands to a purpose-built dealership and service centre.

There's a BP issued for interior strip-out at 1855 Blanshard Street, with a note saying tenant improvements to follow. I know that there used to be two commercial units here, but were they combined to become Victoria Premium Autos at some point?

The Graham family have sold their Kia dealership. As of tomorrow the new name is the highly imaginative Victoria Kia.

I thought something must be happening, last time I was in they suggested over $1000 in service. Not happening.

They've always been like that. Was in for a 50k service a couple weeks ago and they recommended a $200 transmission flush that the manual says is due at 90k. No thanks. Wonder how many people say yes without researching.

this is an advertorial but it's pretty good.

about kia victoria.

Victoria is ideal for electric vehicles because of climate, typical low kilometres, topography, and excellent support from municipalities for infrastructure, explained Ostermann. “Plus, our power is so green. They just make a lot of sense in Victoria. But because everyone’s lifestyle is so different, it’s imperative to have all the facts before you make a decision.”

“We want to be the go-to place for electric vehicles on the island,” said Ostermann. “And not just sales”. We want to be the go-to place for information too, to help people navigate through what’s traditionally been a confusing process.”

“I liked them so much I bought the company,” joked Greg Churchill, co-owner of the newly minted Kia Victoria.

Welp... this was unexpected.  What happens to the current Volvo location?  I remember the discussion on VV about the Hillside Douglas proposal not all that long ago.  It has aged terribly.

Good thing they are planning on increasing service capacity and hours. Last time I called to make an appointment the next available one wasn't for a full month.

Drove by there last night and was so surprised to see the signs ... thought this lot might be getting ready for development?

In a few years they will be the only car dealership left in this area.

Weird. The Hillside building would be very cool restaurant or bar.

Crazy. The Volvo building would make a good restaurant space, I agree. Or a unique space for a 7-11 or a Tim Hortons or whatever else.

On the bright side, maintaining a few car dealerships downtown should help the housing crisis.

Right?

That's not fair. Many of our discussions have aged terribly. Why point the finger at that one?

it has a parking lot that would suit a drive through.

Indeed. It was my go-to place for buying monthly bus passes. But it was just an ordinary 7-11, not a converted Volvo dealership 7-11, which would be way cooler.

I saw a post on Reddit earlier from someone who was glad this wasn't turned into yet another condo. When questioned, they appeared serious.

IMO, there are better places for car dealerships. This is prime residential space.

Yet another car dealership? No problem.

Yet another surface parking lot? No problem.

Yet another housing crisis? No problem.

Oh, wait, no, that last one is a problem. It's just so sad, the housing crisis. (sniff)

I sure as hell want something to be done about the housing crisis, but I sure as hell don't want other people living in my neighbourhood.
