Kot Auto Group has opened the largest Hyundai dealership in Canada in Langford.

The 75,000-square-foot Victoria Hyundai dealership at 2930 Brickshire Dr., just off Veterans Memorial Parkway, features a massive underground garage with capacity for 170 vehicles and state-of-the-art features that give it the national top ranking.

Work on the $34-million project started in 2022 after the Kot Auto Group acquired the 2.7-acre property the year before.

Victoria Hyundai said it will vacate the previous location it has leased at 525 Gorge Road E.

Big Mercedes dealership complex coming to the old Canadian Tire site on Douglas?

 

I guess that seals the deal re: any optimistic visions of significant residential density along the strip between downtown and Uptown.

Like I say, I don't mind the "car store" esthetics of the modern dealerships. They can be bright & interesting storefronts. Although it seems kind of funny to me that the dealerships have left downtown to go just a few blocks north of downtown, where a bunch of dealerships were already located. And some other dealerships have gone the other direction, leaving the Douglas Street strip to get very close to downtown all over again (but on the Vic West side).
