Are you saying there never was any filming on Whidbey Island, Jackerbie? It sure sounds plausible.

You can sift through the search results, but on one hand you have the local paper saying April Fools!, and on the other hand you have the US Navy not commenting on the precise filming locations.

The Pacific Northwest isn't quite the scenery we're enjoying in the trailer ... which is supposed to be Fallon AFB (East of Reno, the "new" Top Gun), and is really quite desert looking (being that it's in a desert, near Blackrock and Burning Man).

I don't think the PNW (or its scenery) factors into Top Gun 2, thus no Whidbey Island.

Lake Tahoe, San Diego and LA are the filming locations according to IMDB.

He's in an F-18 Super Hornet, not an EA-18G Growler, which is what one would find at Ault Field on Whidbey.

The WTF is this post doing in this thread?

i don't know tedward.  do you want me to start a new thread called "the new top gun movie trailer is out and it may or may not have been filmed nearby"?

sometimes on this forum people seem to drop a topic into a thread that might not be perfect rather than starting a new one.

i thought even if it was not connected to victoria some forum members might be interested in the trailer anyway as it seems many posters here might be of age to be familiar and even have some youth sentimental attachment with the original.

be thankful i didn't drop the cats trailer in here.

The tall ship Zodiac showed up in the inner harbor today. It was used in "Sea Wolf", shot in Vancouver with Christopher Reeve.

I asked my question, because by posting in this thread you implied there was a connection to the Victoria film industry which I found interesting. I reacted with a WTF because I felt I had been misled by you.

If you thought there was a connection you should have said so. If there was no connection then yes, you should put it somewhere else.

........I had been misled by you.
If you thought there was a connection you should have said so. If there was no connection then yes, you should put it somewhere else.

Can you describe in detail how it impacted you in such a profoundly negative way?

If enough people are interested, then perhaps you could work up a 15 or 20 minute talk on the issue?

Thanks.
