Any ideas on why the frontage of chorizo and co seems to be papered up?

Interesting. Was just at Chorizo 2.0 on Saturday for some bocatas and all seemed well. They are usually closed on Sundays/Mondays...maybe they were doing some work on their off days?

Based on their social media, Chorizo was open as usual yesterday

Do we know what’s going to be built on this parcel of land?

Also, does anyone know if anything is happening with the Ming’s lot?

A few weeks ago I spotted workmen inside Mings. It appeared they were doing some digging or scoping under the floors.

The Village restaurant has just opened next to Swans in the old Saffron space. Damned tasty looking menu - local, fresh focus. Sandwiches, breakfasts, bennies, etc.

Full disclosure: a colleague's nephew owns the place and gave me the details, will be going for lunch today.

We love the Village. It is our go to place for breakfast and brunch.

If you don't like the selection of restaurants in the Fort/Blanshard/Broughton area just wait a few minutes and a new one will appear shortly.

Looks like Cera in the Janion is getting close to opening. Paper is off the windows and the tables are set.

A nice bar with a good selection of beers on tap (Unibroue A Tout Le Monde, Molson??, Mt Arrowsmith, Tofino, Steamworks, and Driftwood Fat Tug).  Will be another nice place to go for a beer once they get their outdoor seating organized for the warmer weather.

If they get some nice patio seating on the plaza outside, that will be a great place in the summer

Can't find any online presence yet - was hoping to check out a menu. Any idea of when it will be opening?

Bit pricey - they have a lunch special of 8 types of banchan for $18 (choose meat, seafood, or veggie - no English explanation of the dishes), some cold buckwheat noodle dishes, soups, etc. I love Korean food, but I honestly have no idea what many of the dishes are, the English explanations are minimal. Interestingly they only serve black rice, no polished white. Banchan are noted explicitly in the title with the number of dishes.

Banchan (/ˈbɑːnˌtʃɑːn/,[1] from Korean: 반찬; 飯饌; banchan [pan.tɕʰan]) is a collective name for small side dishes served along with cooked rice in Korean cuisine. As the Korean language does not distinguish between singular and plural grammatically, the word is used for both one such dish or all of them combined.

The second restaurant/cafe has opened in the Janion Building.  "Cafe 1891".  Looks like another coffee joint with bakery items.  Not much outdoor seating...

Is "1891" their address? Or a significant year?
