With the help of VHF and his network of spies, we cracked the code.

It turns out the concept for the Vic West location will be Browns Crafthouse, focused more on craft beers and cocktails. Cool. Here's the Citified piece: http://victoria.citi...use-restaurant/

The former La Cocina de Mama Oli at the Victoria Public Market is being transformed into Taco Stand by the folks who operate Roast. And Roast recently expanded with a second location down in San Diego. - http://victoria.citi...ith-taco-stand/

So it went pub instead going to pot.

I'd be curious to see how long the Quadra Street location lasts. I am not sure I have ever seen it busy. I think the owners are humble folk who may not be cut out for our dog-eat-dog* local restaurant scene.

* not making reference to any Korean establishments

Last night at around 8PM it looked like it was hopping. But in downtown, you’re right, there’s a lot of competition. In Esquimalt there’s not much, and folks from the base looking for a quick lunch don’t have many options.

I find them over cooked and dry. Not a big fan of panko breading.

The Mexican place in Esquimalt has shut down. Only one location now.

Bet no one saw that coming.

Location, Location. High traffic. No breakfast restaurants in area. This Mexican restaurant was making between $18,000 to $20,000 gross per month until they opened another Mexican restaurant on Quadra St. and closed this location. Food costs were approx. 25%. This place is fully equipped with vented hood and fire suppression, and all the appliances. Space is approx. 1200 sq. ft. Rent is $1300 pm Plus $$766.29 pm Additional rent. Rent is monthly - no lease required. Liquor license from 9 am until midnight for 48 seats available. Expenses were approx. $80,000 per year with a staff of 2 being paid in addition to family. Lots of parking in rear as well as street parking in front.
