Yeah, Catalano is a hidden secret. I had a great business lunch there the other week.

It is operated by the same fellow who runs Tapa and the place next to it, I believe.

No, not tapa bar. Same guy as Ferris’ oyster bar though I think Catalano was a partnership with Aaron Lawrence.

It’s an announcement of their forthcoming announcement.

Looks like Chef Lawrence has landed on his feet of course, looks like he has a role in the ever expanding Roast empire.

:( That's sad news. I got married at Catalano's in May.

Island Poké will soon open in the shopping plaza immediately north of City Hall. This will be the only (first?) Hawaiian seafood restaurant in Victoria.

There appears to be a Freshii going into the empty corner at Douglas & Broughton.  Paper on the windows says opening Winter 2018.

Awesome! I’ve been to a few Freshii’s in Metro Vancouver. Glad they are bringing that brand to Victoria.

Pags will close Jan 15th until “March” for a kitchen overhaul.

That seems excessive.

^Not excessive if they're taking up the floors, replacing all appliances etc. Remember, that kitchen has been running full tilt since the '80s.

Ya I know. But if you plan right you can get stuff done quicker normally.

Or replace bits at a time.

Johns Place replaced all their fooors and only closed for one day.

But who knows, Pags is an old building.
