Good grief! We're gonna need more bike lanes.

We had toyed with a ride-up window for pizza and ice cream, catering to the cycling crowd. In fact, our decor is cycling-themed.

However, we quickly abandoned the idea once we ran the idea past a restaurant consultant friend of ours. You basically need to run two POS all the time - which is fine, if you’re running flat out at all times. But you either have to blow labour by staffing both or you'll have one waiting on the other when it’s quieter. It severely hampers foot traffic behind the counter and efficiency. Good luck to him.

It's already gated up and  completely graffiti'd. It looks as if it had been derelict for 10 years.

There appears to be a Freshii going into the empty corner at Douglas & Broughton.  Paper on the windows says opening Winter 2018.

This location opened for business today. Saw the full team of staff going through training yesterday. Sharp looking store, should be a popular lunch spot.

La Fogata on View seems to have overcome its labour shortage and re-opened.

I really wanted to like Village Taverna, as it is owned by the same people behind the now defunct Eugene's.  Sadly, I've only been there once, as it suffers from the same problem that Eugene's did: horribly overpriced.

I'm a big fan of the Village Taverna; in terms of its pricing scheme, I find it to be in the same approximate range as other Greek establishments in the community.

Marijuana. Gotta be.

What about James Bay, it needs a pot shop, no?

The existing pot shop in CSV actually failed (Leaf Compassion Society next to the butcher) and not, to my knowledge, due to the city’s licensing requirements. Given the lease rates at 230 Cook, is it possible that the application is for something alcohol-related?

The current zoning allows for a liquor store up to 127 sq. m. I think that pot shop is a safe bet on this one, but we'll see what the dev tracker description is updated to

It failed as it could not get 100% strata owner approval.

Ah- I didn’t realize that was a strata building.

In terms of rezoning, I wonder if there is a plan to combine the old location so Cook Street Liquors with the former Serious Coffee space?

Speaking of Cook Street Village, Sushi Diner will be opening up next week in the space formerly occupied by The NEXT: Modern Japanese Cuisine. The food there was amazing, but they had to close up due to owner illness.

It also looks like Rosie’s Diner has been sold. From what I hear, it will still be operated in the same manner in which it is now. I know many people love Rosie’s - I think it’s just OK and hope that it will become something more under new ownership.

Yes, and the diner will close for a little while soon for renos if it hasn’t already.

Know it all.
