Well here's something interesting...

Second Cup coffee chain partners with cannabis company to open pot shops

Coffee company has 286 locations across Canada, and some could be converted to sell pot

tease...

I know of a group who is trying to open a legit pot shop in CSV...they wouldn't disclose their location, though.

Until federal laws are changed, there is no such thing as a "legit" pot shop.

Well everybody assumes the laws will change this year, so their goal is to operate as legit, federally and provincially kosher operators.

But we are so close now.  BC laws, regulations and supply chains are imminent, as are federal laws.  And CoV has clear bylaws.

Agreed, but until the laws have been passed through all necessary bodies in Ottawa, operating any sort of street front marijuana business is illegal.

Usually when one opens a business, the legwork begins many months before the first customer is served. These guys do not plan on doing anything illegal, is what I'm saying, and they were quite excited about the location they secured/were close to securing the last I spoke to them. They seem to be very aware of the hoops they need to jump through prior to legalization day.

And I am not trying to cast aspersions on their intent, but the history of illegal businesses being given a pass in the CoV has unfortunately made me suspicious.

I don't think anyone suggested they planned to open prior to full legalization.

Marijuana. Gotta be.

What about James Bay, it needs a pot shop, no?

I heard the same thing. The donut shop is Empire Donuts and the wine bar is connected to another place. I believe it was Stage?

Also was told that the Rosie's Diner spot was turning into a second location for Chicken 649.

We can't go revealing our sources now can we? Actually I just asked someone who was working in the serious coffee...

Also activity as New Asian Village. Contractor and interior designer signs up but not sure who is going in.

Hopefully, if true, this Vancouver import does better than Meat & Bread.
