Leopold's Tavern has posted on facebook they are opening a location in Victoria.  It's a small chain of pubs from Regina with locations in Alberta and Manitoba as well. They didn't specify where in town they were going.

From the Parthenon Pizza menu:

3. THE MEDITERRANEAN PIZZA

Cheese, Ham, Bacon, Pineapple

Nothing says "Mediterranean" quite like a Hawaiian pizza...

They are opening in the old Steamers location on Yates. Be interesting are they are essentially deemed to be a " dive bar", and they will be located almost across the street from El Furniture Warehouse, another "dive bar". Not sure if they did their research , time will tell. Lower Yates is filling up with many drinking establishments. Add Chucks Burger to the mix

Nothing screams dive bar like $10 beers!

Question: we have a sort of dive bar downtown. Can you identify where it is?

It’s not quite downtown but my guess is Logan’s Pub.

I am confused.

Is this post snooty, anti-drinking, or both?

Big Bad John's?

That’s a faux dive bar, and Logan’s would be outside of downtown for sure.

But yes, Victoria watcher got it. It’s View Street Social.

It certaily is faux now. But there was a time, not that long ago, that one could spit their chewing tabacco onto the peanutshell covered floor without a second look in there!

Fun fact: "Hawaiian" pizza was invented by a Greek immigrant in southern Ontario. There's your Mediterranean connection! ;)

Curious what's going in at 240 Cook Street. There's an active BP for interior renovation to one of the units, conversion from retail to cafe. I assume it's the corner unit where Rain Bird was but can't be sure.

Cook's Day Off goes out of business.

That's too bad cause boy did they make good pre-made meals.  We discovered them when they catered the appetizers for a Point Hope Maritime - Dockside Green party a few years ago.  Apparently there was some mis-management and most of their cooks quit - the death blow for a catering company.

Oh well, this led us to discover Cheryl's Gourmet Pantry just down the street!

Lee's House Chinese restaurant is going into the old Boston Pizza space in the Tim Hortons/Canadian Tire Auto mall neighbouring University Heights.
