Here's the roll-call for Serious Coffee closures/potential closures:
- Cook Street Village (closed)
- Broad Street (closing?)
- Oak Bay Ave (was for sale in 2017; did it sell?)
- James Bay (closed)

...any others?

Oak Bay Serious Coffee is no more; it’s now FresCafe.

Serious Coffee also closed in Port Alberni and Courtenay over the last few years. I'm unsure about other locations around the island, but they don't appear to be doing well.

It was probably at least five years ago now, but the Serious Coffee in the plaza at Foul Bay and Cadboro Bay Rd also closed (now called Taste).

Sad about the Broad St location - that was one of my go-to study spots as a student, and they made my favourite Africano in the city.

I think it’s hard to be a franchised coffee shop these days because you’re paying royalties on top of your other expenses. Second Cup is really struggling, and even Tim Hortons- which has high volume- has had major issues with their franchisees.

My sense is that Starbucks (nearly all stores are corporate owned) and good independent shops like Fantastico and Habit are in a better position than Serious Coffee and other franchised cafes; even our sole Blenz location recently reverted to being a corporate store.

That's a bummer if the Broad Street store closes, I used to be pretty regular in there, due to the location. It's a big space, but always felt a bit gloomy, I always thought it needed more colour.

Dining room at my shop on salt spring.

This was the view a few days ago, taken by my manager Jesse. Water must have been cold!

That's the restaurant adjacent to the Fulford Harbour ferry terminal on Saltspring Island. I sat next to that middle window for a late lunch during a trip over for the market last summer, hope to do that again this year!

Virtuous Pie is going in the Union, where that soap place was. 530 Pandora. Any restaurant vacancies downtown that would be good candidates for MeeT?

How about the Guild space?

How about somewhere in Fernwood where there's already a built-in audience for vegan food?

Up? Didn’t they just announce they were going down?

I always use my experience card to save 30% anyways.

Lols no these were some people who live on a farm commune just up the road. I just hired one of them who’s here on a working tourist visa from France!

This is a very popular diving spot in the summer, can’t say I’ve seen it with snow on the ground before though.

MeeT has confirmed they're coming our way, but they're still a little coy as to where, and when.

The Subway restaurant downtown on Douglas (near Johnson) appears to have gone out of business; this would be their second closing in the area around the core in the last few years (Cook Street Village also closed).

The sign on the front door for the last couple of months has said it's under renovations and will be reopening.
