The sign on the front door for the last couple of months has said it's under renovations and will be reopening.

Ah- my bad.

it needed a bit of a refresh.

The entire Subway restaurant concept could use a refresh.

it does seem to have lost some lustre along the way.

look at the way McDonald’s has evolved with very high coffee sales and some premium burger products plus pastries etc. does subway even sell coffee? it just seems to be content with a low price basic sandwich model. that can be run by just one or two people at most hours.

Yes, they sell coffee, and it's not terrible.

They sell Van Houtte, right? I know that some of the locations use a Keurig now, rather than brewing full pots of coffee.

The 24 hour subway on Bay/Blanchard just re-opened after finishing its renovation. Much more modern feeling.

The mid-block crosswalk @ Kings will be needed more than ever now.

^yeah I believe it’s renovations. Though isn’t that building supposed to be getting a heritage restoration/getting redeveloped? Why wouldn’t they just wait until then?

Outside of Oldtown, I feel like Black and White would make a good spot for Meet. I’m thinking of the Meares/Cook corner. Lots of outdoor seating planned there. Is that open patio on the second floor supposed to be connected to the storefront on the main floor?

There seems to be some construction activity going on at the old Camille's location. Do we know what is happening there?

I'd become a believer in God if Camille's were to be reborn.

VicMap is short on details, but does confirm that the interior reno is for a restaurant.

Wouldn't it sitting empty for another year be a bigger indignity?

Royaltea Bubble Tea Cafe will be opening in the Fairfield Block (1601 Douglas Street). Not sure which unit. Also not sure if this is affiliated with the Royaltea chain in Toronto.

Cool. Going by the name of the place, and that it sells bubble tea in TO and elsewhere, I'd say yes.
