This from their website:

"Built to accommodate 150 diners, the 1500-square-foot patio looks onto the Upper Harbour, offering our guests a serene setting while they enjoy a favourite beverage and savoury dishes suited for a casual few hours spent indulging in the rugged beauty of our city’s working harbour."

47 word sentence. Try reading it out loud without taking a breath! :)

$78,000

1951 Oak Bay Avenue

Osaka Sushi a well established Japanese restaurant along a dense area on the border of Oak Bay/Victoria. Full Kitchen, sushi bar, large dining area, free standing building with parking stalls. Opportunity to own a established restaurant or great starting point for a new restaurant. Access to foot traffic, don't miss out on a great opportunity.

Had one of the worst meals ever there. It is not a name that usually gets mentioned when locals ask for the best sushi place.

so now that pubs and restaurants have been open for a full two weeks (tomorrow) how many have expanded their patio space with help from the city and province?

50?

25?

5?

i believe it's 0 so far.

Rumor has it that most pubs/ restaurants are making more profit from the 75% wage subsidy then they would at 100% capacity pre social distancing.  The owners are careful as to not attract too much business so they no longer qualify for the subsidy. A quick glance at the limited offerings on Skip and Dash and shortened hours of most establishments is proof these are ploys being implemented by clever owners. Once the wage subsidy is over, and if the social distancing requirements are still in place, then you will see these patios pop up...

Also the rent subsidy. Not worth going juuuuust over in sales to no longer qualify.

Oh great. This will now appear as Comrade Ben's last-minute addition to the next Council meeting agenda. Thanks VW.  <_<

Bubble Waffle Cafe is opening soon in the Bay Centre Food Court, in the space Pizza Konz briefly occupied last year. Construction is going on now. Currently, Glen's Sandwiches, Opa and Edo are the only food court establishments open - the rest are still closed.

In the rest of the mall, Earl's, Starbucks, Johnny Rockets and Marble Slab are all open. Mr. Pretzels has been closed since the start of Covid (and the location no longer appears on the company's website...) and Jugo Juice has been closed since the start of the new year.

Bubble Waffle Café offerings can vary by location. I’ll guess the Bay Centre location will be more like Harbour Centre (Vancouver) than Crystal Mall

Restaurant restrictions easing

https://www.cbc.ca/n...ne-11-1.5608550

Henry also announced Thursday that she is lifting restrictions on restaurants that required them to operate at 50 per cent of their regular capacity.

A modified public health order requires restaurants to determine how many people they can serve while still maintaining a two-metre distance between groups. Operators are required to monitor their premises to make sure that capacity isn't exceeded and those distances are maintained, including in line-ups.

The order says there can be no more than six people in any party, and if a two-metre distance can't be maintained between tables, a Plexiglas partition should be installed.

Buffets and self-serve stations are allowed to operate as long as there is a handwashing facility or hand sanitizer within easy reach and signs reminding customers to clean their hands before touching anything.

We had dinner tonight at the Med Grill Royal Oak, our most "normal" dining experience since March. The outdoor patio was comfortable and the food was good. The masks are still a bit disconcerting. All the servers are wearing black cocktail dresses and surgical masks like you're at Robert Palmer General Hospital or something.

Stoked to see that Tractor is coming to Victoria, in the old Sam’s Deli. Healthy, beautiful, quick food. Just too bad it’s in the tourist zone, even with the online ordering and pickup not sure I want to fight the crowds in the summer.

They must be close to opening by now! In May they indicated a target of "mid June," and the sign permits were issued by the City yesterday.

And it will probably make zoomer happy that this year Tractor really isn't in the tourist zone. No crowds!

Chateau Victoria today announced that influential bartender Shawn Soole will (again) be taking control of the bar at Clives Classic Lounge. Guess I know where I’m going next time I’m over in Victoria.

Tractor on Government Street opens Wed June 24th. It looks like Cube on Pandora is going to be open soon too. They just put up a sign on their door saying they're hiring as well as a sign detailing their Covid regulations.

Has Dobosala reopened yet?
