We should note that Qoola's Hillside location is not currently open even though the other food court tenants have reopened.

Several Qoola franchises have shut down over the years including one locally on lower Yates and one on Denman Street in Vancouver's West End.

It is open! I think they have more limited hours than some of the other places in the food court, but they are most definitely open.

Based on my last dining experience at San Remo, it was surviving off an outdated reputation. The meal and the atmosphere were only so-so. Best bet would be a tear down and re-build.

Nparker is the ultimate tough food critic.

Poor showing and he suggests tearing the building down.

I can hardly wait for vista 18 and legislature dining room reviews.

The San Remo building is hardly more than a bunch of shacks held together with some paint and a lot of hope. Their cuisine isn't much better. A restaurant can't survive on nostalgia alone.

If I understand that ad correctly, it is just the location that is offered, possibly with the effects inside, which are likely old and worn. The San Remo business was up for sale before the pandemic. But I'm guessing it didn't sell and the owner just walked.

And yes, the restaurant was bad in its last incarnation because it was not the original owners.

I appreciate that the property on which San Remo stands is not for sale. It seems like any new ownership of the existing facility is just going to be lipstick on a pig* at this point.

* which wouldn't actually be a bad name for a new restaurant in the existing building

Leopold’s Tavern on Lower Yates (the old Sitka space) is having its grand opening on Monday, Aug 24. It looks like there’s a sports memorabilia store connected to it?

A family-owned Metchosin restaurant is set to close its doors indefinitely in September, only two months after reopening to the public.

The owners of Glenrosa Farm Restaurant, 5447 Rocky Point Rd., made the announcement on social media that the final day of brunch will be on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Treehouse Cafe in Ganges is closed due to one staff member testing positive for Covid.  No estimate given for reopening.  Worst time for it to happen, Thursday before the long weekend.
