Looks like renovations happening at the old Guild space. Not sure what the plan is but some nice fixtures and woodwork are going in.

Probably a deal to be had on some of those fixtures when they get pulled out again in 12-18 months time by the new tenants of this space.

I like that name. it does seem a bit odd though a club opening in a homeless shelter building.

I imagine the occupants of many of the rooms at Paul's consider alcohol to be rather like Kool-Aid.

The clientele want overproof rum straight up not some fancy drink, oh and they want it cheap as well.

 

No sane person will venture into that joint. Even leaving their car in the parking lot wouldn't make any sense.

Despite the development permit for hotel etc. on the upper floors, A NEW sign is up in the old "the Guild" location.  "The Singing Swan" in bright neon.  Don't the new owners know there's a pub only 2 blocks away called Swans??.  This can't be a joke cause neon is not cheap!  Photos coming tomorrow...

Curious, there are no recent building permits or sign permits for the building showing on VicMap. The mystery deepens!

Could it just be a movie set? There’s been a ton of Christmas movies and such filming in town lately. Cenote on Yates was a magic shop a few weeks ago.

Great point. Lots of sudden work happening in there and for us to not have heard a peep is interesting.

My hunch is movie as well. Lots of people sitting around, minor wood work, and no mechanical/equipment work. The room makes a good pub scene.
