But it’ll all work out. It always does.

Perhaps there is also too much overhead. These are issues even when there is zero competition *cough cough*.

I called around urban core restaurants too, all were booked up, and I called quite a few.
Then I finally tried one of the big, well known downtown restaurants. They had plenty of capacity so I snatched a table.
So we’ll be trekking down there, paying for parking, etc, which will add $10 to the bill give or take, hopefully without a parking ticket if I’m late on the renewal. Can you even renew spots via the app or does it have to first expire? We also have to shift our schedule to make sure we add additional time to get through the traffic gauntlet.
If you guys recall, not that long ago I was downtown and my full 1.5hr or whatever parking ran out. Within 45 seconds I had repurchased parking, but lo and behold there was a parking ticket on my windshield, proving the meter fairy had been camping and waiting for my meter to run out. Too funny.

I took the kids to white spot this morning so their mom could sleep in. We’ll do a dinner later at a family friendly chain restaurant.

Didn’t even think to try, I was surprised they were open for brunch at all.

Mike, do you still drive a vehicle too big to park in the parkades? Lots of space Sundays, and its free.

^I'm surprised they were able to reach up to his windshield to place a ticket there. They must have had a ladder (or maybe a drone).

I think when you reach the max time, you can’t auto-reload until the timer runs out, then you start again. I didn’t get to test that this time as we were out before the max time ran out.The app is super convenient. There’s a timer. It alerts you when your time is about to run out, and you can add more.

Traffic was stupid in Victoria as expected. The City had shut down Bay from Quadra to Douglas, and Blanshard from Caledonia to Hillside (I think?). Maybe only to Bay.
I got the seagull treatment, too, lol. Had to make a stop at the car wash on the way home

To pay for parking past the maximum time allowed, simply end your parking session at any time and then start a new session right away. No need to wait until the moment the initial session runs out.

We had a great time, and I thanked the owner for the great service, as always. I like to keep my trail quiet.Where did you end up?

I’d rather not have to do it, but if pressed, so be it. But doing it as a matter of course? That’s a $40 risk I don’t want to take.

Yes, repeat metering is against the rules — whether you do so as a matter of course, or if you “have to do it”, or if you wait until expiration and start over, or whatever — and I don’t do so myself.
If you want to enjoy that dessert after dinner without worrying about the exact moment when your parking session expires, you can repeat meter (whether against the rules or not) at a time of your choosing, through the app.
I have cause to believe that the likelihood of getting ticketed for repeat metering is quite low. I’ve even seen cars parked at meters for days at a time without getting tickets.

All I can say from experience is ticketing in the CoV can be ultra unforgiving and a great way to sour a day.

That’s repeat metering, which is prohibited.

“A driver must not cause or permit a vehicle to remain parked in a metered space longer than the time during l which a vehicle may be continuously parked within the space as indicated on the parking meter or by a sign”

You’re right, but it happens from time to time.Edit PS

What’s the worse option to take, is knowingly planning to game the system. You’re setting me up with a for-sure ticket by suggesting I cancel my parking ahead of the limit, then re-new with another round. That’s planned and intentional gaming. My situation was a scenario I couldn’t help, and I needed the time afterwards. The City parking guys understood. But if you’re knowingly doubling up? Then that’s a little dirty, no?

If Mike K. continues with this pattern of repeatedly paying for parking then maybe his vehicle should be banned from downtown.
