Thank god they spent so much time holding up rapid transit.

Two restaurants holding up rapid transit?

I ate at the pantry once a month for breakfast and was always satisfied with the service and quality of the food.

No just the Pantry held up Rapid Transit. Brannigans did nothing.

I wasn't living in Victoria proper when the first rapid transit came out, so I've never understood what it meant when folks said that "the Pantry crowd" killed the plan. Can someone enlighten me - please and thanks.

The owner of the Pantry lead the business-opposition group.

The St. James Grill (located inside the Best Western on Johnson in the former De Dutch space) may be on its way out as the hotel is seeking a new restaurant tenant.

Hopefully the Sizzling Tandoor, which is just across the street, will be around for the long haul. :)

The St James Grill has only been there about a year...I'm sure the lease would have been for longer than that so one of them is opting out.

(01-08-2011) It looks like Brannigans (at the Accent Inn) and The Pantry have both closed too.

Alzu's (former Humpty's) has reportedly closed up shop.

What's left for 24-hours? Just Denny's?

Hmmm, I don't think it has been for quite some time.

QV's is open from 7am to 11pm-ish depending on who's working that night. It hasn't been 24 hours since the new owners bought it many years ago.

Alzu's wasn't going to win any culinary awards but it was one of the few remaining blue collar eateries that served the shift working crowd.

Yeah, only went there once, but sad to see it go. The city needs more 24-hr places that aren't named McDonald's.

Wal-Mart only stays open for 24 hours during the Christmas shopping blitz.

Know it all.

So is it true the only 4 a.m. eats are Denny's and 7-Eleven?
