On Friday May 1st, 2009, Victoria resident Ryan Hinton can be seen playing for cash and prizes on the popular TV game show Wheel of Fortune.

Ryan has arranged to watch his appearance along with approximately 150 people for an entertaining evening that will support ECHO (Embracing Children Humanitarian Organization - www.embracingchildren.com) a local charity that provides financial grants to adopting parents. The evening will consist of a presentation by ECHO; Wheel of Fortune like games for people to win great prizes, plus door prizes and raffle prizes; and watching Ryan on Wheel of Fortune.

The cost to attend the event is $5.00 per person, and the event is open to the public. Seating is limited, so people who are interested in attending, must contact Ryan at 250-516-7930.

^The way you wrote that makes it sound like you have an alter ego. It might help to tell people it's between 6:00PM - 8:00PM at St. Ann's Academy, in the Auditorium: 835 Humboldt Street.

I watch that show every night so you don't need to convince me.

Jeopardy's better though. :D

The reason I was asking people to contact me rather than providing all the info here is because there is limited seating, so I don't want to turn anyone away.

The charity event was fun and successful. Thanks to everyone who supported it. :)

If you missed the show, I won the main game with cash and prizes totalling $38,550 :P, but I missed out on an additional $25,000 in the bonus round. :(

Congrats!
And what a great idea to leverage it for a charity! The non-profit sector needs all the help it can get in this current economic climate.

I know Ryan from UVic, and you couldn't hope for a better guy. It's nice to hear he did well.

Holy ****, you did really well! Most people that get to the final puzzle only have about half that! I'm not surprised you didn't get the final puzzle though because it's so ridiculously hard these days that only about 10% of all the people solve it. They need to either re-use old puzzles or start giving away about half the alphabet for people to have a decent chance of solving it. I'll also never know why they show people what they didn't win after the final puzzle! Like, what's the ****ing point? It's like, "nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah, you didn't win 25 grand!" Why would anyone want to see that?

Also, was your charity event sold out?

Thank you everyone for your feedback and kind words. :)

The charity event was very successful and it was a blast having so many people cheering for me. It wasn't sold out, but I wouldn't have wanted too many more, as it would have been a little crowded.

This Friday there is another local face on Wheel of Fortune. His name is Jesal and I auditioned with him in Vancouver. He has an interesting story as he was on Hollywood Squares a few years ago and won a trip to Victoria. He got a girl pregnant while here will on that vacation, and now he lives here and is a happy father. see http://www.timescolo...2725/story.html

That is a pretty interesting story. I never thought about game show contestants as actors before. Makes sense.

That's also cool that he took responsibility for knocking that chick up. The world would be a better place if more guys would do that.

Strange article and headline.

Casting call for Canadian version of Family Feud is open to Vancouver Island residents

Family Feud Canada is looking for families — including contestants from Vancouver Island — to compete on a homegrown version of the popular U.S. game show.

The show is not specifically looking for contestants from any particular region.
