The biggest growth node is Royal Bay and Beachlands, far removed from rail. They wanted a ferry to downtown, though.
BC Transit has requested participation in the Reconciliation Corridor. I’m not sure what that means now. But the corridor is absolutely not conducive to the best use of limited tax dollars. The TCH route also connects Westhills, if we’d choose to run LRT along the ROW. There’s no advantage of E&N over BCT’s alignment now that the entirety of the track has to get ripped up, that there’s only one track now and we’d need two, and the line doesn’t connect downtown. That alone is tragic for the ROW.

Now you’re telling us the E&N is the better route than the highway alignment, when it’s absolutely the worst option.

Nuking the highway into town impacts everyone. Stop building straw men.You told us that it would directly impact you, that’s why you said you were so vehemently against expanding the TCH.
Now you’re telling us the E&N is the better route than the highway alignment, when it’s absolutely the worst option.

So anything you say about the TCH alignment is going to be biased. Facts are not strawman arguments. If they started an 8 lane abomination it would cripple my access for a decade and in the end only allow for more cars to spill into alll the ancillary roads that are all at capacity now making this entire area a total gong show.
A strawman is implying that I support 10 years of construction to add two lanes. That’s very hyperbolic.

We are all biased. You especially. I work from home. I don’t need to drive at peak hours. My school drop skirts the highway. I have no money entangled in any of this nor any other conflict of interest. I don’t even ride a bike anymore.
You are fabricating a bias beyond my opinion observation of fact. Most likely because of your bias.

The Goose? That’s 3.5km from Royal Bay at its closest point. More than 4km to Beachlands.Colwood also saw major expansion, especially around Royal Bay and seaside developments.

I support practical infrastructure for the public good, and you are vehemently opposed to it, because you say it will disrupt your community. We are all biased. You especially. I work from home. Nobody is putting words in your mouth. You say TCH expansion would cripple your community for ten years. Those are your words.

Again, I was simply pointing out the author’s bias. And you come at me with burning straw men.
Rail also isn’t happening in my lifetime so I guess this is another thread I gotta leave….

You called the author a liar.
"The E&N Corridor through Esquimalt serves no major growth nodes" I assumed since the author is the president of Friends of Rails to Trails he would know where the E&N goes to. Right into the highest residential growth areas of the region. My mistake. It could have been ignorance. Not sure which is worse in this case with his strong onpinion getting published.

The “doesn’t serve growth nodes” lie triggered me to look. The rail goes straight into Langford….. AND the West Hills. The biggest growth node in the region.
You called the author a liar.
And for the record, I did not...
In many legal contexts there is an important difference between saying:
“That statement is a lie”
vs.
“That person is a liar”
The distinction often comes down to whether you are attacking:
a specific statement, or
the person’s overall character or honesty.
“That statement is a lie”
This is generally narrower. It refers to a specific claim being false and intentionally deceptive.
