Would I be wrong in suggesting the Island Corridor Foundation should get out of the way?

Why would they want to do that when their main focus is to keep the Gravy Train running.

^ And I'm 1000% in favour of the increased density along the route, let's do it now!  But not a single politician (Victoria, Esquimalt, View Royal, Colwood or Langford) has indicated similar approval.

Here, this is a start for Cov and Esquimalt to signal they are serious.

The loss of the Esquimalt parklet is offset by playing field upgrades at the school in Victoria.  That's cooperation!

And here you go Esquimalt, you can build these not-very-deep row housing units, super innovative.

The north side of Wurtele is about to get an extreme makeover.

Here you go, First Nations, you are going to get $75,000 rent every month (indexed to inflation for 25 years too) for these 300 units that CRD Housing is going to build, operate and maintain fully on this "campus".  25-year lease on your land, after that you own the buildings, FN, and you can then run them yourself and keep all the rents.

He is talking about trains not TRAMS!

Did you read the article? He is stating that rail transport, whether freight trains, passeneger trains, or trams/diesel multiple units is discordant with Corridor geography. As for future high density development, the approvals and buiding should come first before high capital subsidy infrastructure is locked in.

Alright, now it's VR and SD61's turn to cooperate.  Innovative row housing and a big building at the bottom of the field there.  And here is the real share part, you are gonna share your staff parking lot with residents.

Boo ya!

Now, Langford.  Here is where you get to be a real leader, like you are already are.

You can thrown up these 12-floor towers than actually has the train track running under the base of them.  So cool!

Once you build towers next to the E&N corridor there will be sooo many folks living there that will NEVER allow anything to run on it again.

As bad as the planning is in the CRD, I'm glad none of you have an actual say.

What do you mean? In less than one hour this morning I drew up plans for housing in 4 different municipalities. That’s efficiency.

Compared especially to those $3.3M Crystal Pool plans.

Don't even get me started on Crystal Pool. The plans so far are lackluster and don't inspire at all. By insisting on doing it themselves, Victoria is seriously limiting the potential for this facility and in my opinion, they are just rebuilding what we already have.

$3.3 million on $70 million is okay value. The fact that they've put a price tag on it without designing it and having a cost consultant do a post-design estimate tells me that they have no chance of meeting that budget. Nevermind that being over budget is this council's speciality.

Sorry for the off-topic rant.

It'll be a cold day in hell when we see even 5,000 new residents living trackside along the entire E&N route.

And I'm a pro-building guy who would love to see 10x that if it means a decrease in housing costs and more access to housing in general.

It’s not going to be a galloping goose rolling along the tracks.... it’s not going to be a km of coal cars.... it’s going to be an electric tram that takes you downtown in under 30 minutes while you write provocative posts on VV or catch up on your emails. It’s going to raise value in the west shore not lower it. Why do you think Stew is behind it? VHF, fly along the line to the west hills and see how much vacant land is still there. The only way high density is viable there is with an alternative people mover into town....

OK, so you are gonna install a power line?

OK, the railway is somewhere around where my squiggle is.

But you could take a branch line or two right into Stew's forest here.

screenshot-www.google.ca-2017-12-05-18-31-57-307.png

For scale, that whack of forest there is about the size of Saanich.

^ exactly. But..... it’s on the other side of the pinch point so problematic to drastically increases density here.... unless a new artery is opened up. What luck! We already have one that goes right there! No power lines needed. It’s called CFO trams. https://www.globalma...ve.php?id=15973
