I took Mrs. Coopershawk and 2 out of town guests for dinner recently and it was horrible! They advertise a prime rib special on Sunday night for $18.95 and we were sucked in. The prime rib was about 1/4" thick and overdone. My yorkshire pudding was burned. One guset had lasagna and said it tasted like it was taken out of a freezer and microwaved. Caveat emptor!

That's strange, we go there quite often and consider it by a wide margin the best pub food available in Saanich. (Which, mind, isn't to say it's great: the competition is awful.)

Maybe you just encountered a bad night.

I hope so, for the sake of the restaurant. When we were leaving we noticed a sign beside the road stating that they are looking for an experienced cook. I wonder who was in the kitchen the night we were there! I still won't give them a second chance...we don't go out for dinner all that often and when we do, it's usually to a place we know...I slipped up this time!

Saanich Roadhouse (Saanich Roadhouse) on West Saanich Rd

We drove past there today and noticed their sign read that they were closing September 1.

Are they closing permanently, or just for a vacation?

A Facebook comment dated August 17 indicates that August 31 will be their last day.

I'd guess the sign company is making the Mac Renovations one, and will insert a new translucent cover.
