Funny, I was recently served a video of someone sailing from the Atlantic to Oklahoma City or some dang inland thing. Various little waterways and tributaries and locks.

Pretty nuts, right? Sailing the Chicago River right through downtown Chicago is one of the neatest experiences in the world. Highly underrated and unknown to most as a thing to do, until you’re there and see the boats doing their thing.

Mike....you live on an island....you need a boat,

You can kayak or canoe from the inner harbour up through the Gorge...turn right at Portage inlet... and continue up Colquitz River (not creek) and go shopping at the Tillicum Mall.

I have a couple of kayaks if you need some.... also a sh*t load of boats in the back yard if you need some of those.

There are some nifty videos on Youtube about the "loop" but I'm sure you have been up all night watching those.

Speaking of boating on local waterways....Prospect Lake is the party barge capital on Vancouver Island....there must be at least 30 of them.

Here is our build. Kitchen, toilet, dining room...

Ha! It’s a porta potty with a chamber that we bring home and dump it in the toilet.

Use caution whenever there are bullets in the chamber.

Curious if they put the advisory back on after the event.

The 2,200 competitors in the 29th Ironman 70.3 Victoria will be getting wet Sunday morning, which is just how they like to start out the day. That was something denied them last year when a blue-green algae bloom in Elk Lake caused the cancellation of the swimming leg in in 2025.

The Capital Regional District confirmed Wednesday the advisory has been lifted for Elk Lake, although it remains in place for Beaver Lake.

The race began as the New Balance Half-Iron in the region that became the epicentre of Canadian triathlon with the Island producing the likes of Olympic gold- and silver medallist Simon Whitfield, Olympians Brent McMahon, Kirsten Sweetland and Matthew Sharpe and multiple-time Ironman Hawaii world champions Peter Reid and Lori Bowden.

Triathlon Canada is headquartered in Victoria.

Beaver lake is just the south end of Elk Lake. I suppose the algae also respects authority and won’t cross the line. Not until after the event.
