Victoria doesn't have any univerities or colleges within its boundaries AFAIK unless you count English language colleges.

What about this university? http://www.ucan.ca/C...Victoria_Campus

There are also a few colleges listed here. http://www.islandnet...all/schools.htm

Somehow it just doesn't seem like University when it's held in a former elementary school. I hope they updated the student desks.

I'm gonna tutor people in my basement office and call it Oak Bay University.
We have "Sprott-Shaw University" (formerly a typing college for young ladies of good breeding) and "DeVry University" (former correspondence school for TV repairmen that used to have ads on the back page of comic books) so why not?
Calling it a uni doesn't make it one. I can't take UCW seriously and I wonder how many employers and grad schools would.

No, it is a real university. There are 11 public and 5 private universities in BC, that's all. Your Oak Bay one won't be allowed to call itself a university.

I really don't know about UCW. I use to be friends with some students there. Their course works were ... how can I say this ... very unlike the education I got at UVic. From my understanding instead of picking your classes for the semester you just do the same thing as everyone else. I guess you end up with a well rounded education, but with the very little they asked me for help with nothing seemed very advanced.

Did I miss Victoria's 15 minutes of next-top-city status or are we still gearing up for our chance to shine?

Know it all.
