Silkwind was actually a bit of a step in a different direction for Victoria. Too bad it never happened. So was that Jetsons concept for the lot beside View Towers. In case you've forgotten about that one, it also didn't happen.

I still love The Reef. So cool.

Check out what going super tall is getting the good people of Burnaby at Brentwood Mall. Are these tall towers examples of good design or is this repetitive cookie-cutter stuff?

There's at least one building at Brentwood Station that I like but I can't remember the name of it.

Portland has some not-very-tall towers that I like a lot.

I rest my case and await Mike K.'s rebuttal and scathing private message.

You've been on a pretty good roll today.

I've been working like a dog and I'm really burnt out. VV is my muse. She inspires and rejuvenates.*
*when she's not pissing me off and making we wonder why I don't just walk away for good

I also like Balance at Dockside Green. There's plenty of good modern stuff in Victoria. Just keep it coming and keep mixing it up.

30-floors, give or take, seems to be the consensus in conversation with people, too. I think we might something in that rage
I like 24-floors as the maximum. Any more than that in conversation could definitely turn into a rage.

Bingo, I already jumped on him for the "rage" mistake. He's going to flip when he gets back.

Sorry, I was just trying to take a bit of the scathing out of the PM for you while you are burnt out.
Back flip from where?

I'm pretty sure they'll continue on with Raffi Architects out of Vancouver. That's the firm responsible for the Hudson Walk towers and (I think) Hudson Mews, and Concert's Era condo.
Know it all.

I agree with aastra that you can find some really good looking 30ish floor condo buildings. Burnaby has some great examples. The Met, Moda, Affinity, etc.
I’d love for this building to have some sort of a nighttime lighting feature.
Downtown needs some sort of a nighttime beacon. It doesn't need to be anything overly dramatic or complex. For example, Aura in Toronto has a simple but striking lighting feature.

The Metropolitan in Portland is just 19 stories (reminds me of the Falls a bit):
Casey in Portland, just 16 stories:
The Westerly in Portland (just 14 stories):
By the way, check out this long lost great building in Portland:

Demolished in 2006! During the age of supposed enlightenment! The replacement is a perfectly fine building, but once again I have to wonder why special properties get targeted for replacement while lame duck properties are ignored.

It looks like wooden beams that will support signage is being installed along the perimeter of the former parkade site.

I wonder if they'll include updated renderings.

How tall would you guys want to see a building at this site? I mean realistically (24-storeys is the current allotted height).
Would be nice to see it push up to 28 storeys, that way the next 24 story would be more acceptable to Pam's of the world.
