The developer already has zoning for 24 floors in place at this point, as far as I remember anyway. It would be shocking to me for Townline to leave floor space and revenue on the table. This really is a unique opportunity to construct a landmark building.

Agree. That two-block section as I see it will extend the downtown core northward. It needs to be significant, not watered down.

Today's T-C has an article that talks about Townline's planning for the site... no new information but it does state that the mixture of condo/rental hasn't been determined.

I assume with the large number of units Hudson Place could potentially produce, Townline really wants to get it right. I sure hope there aren't too many more delays getting this started. I remain nervous there could still be a reduction in height/density as a cost-cutting measure, which I think in the long run would be a big mistake. I would think the tremendous success with Hudson Walk 1 (and presumably HW2) Townline would have a good sense of the local market conditions.

I was working in the Jack Davis Building when the first half of the parkade was demolished. I seem to recall it came down fairly quickly.

^-- I could see a bit of that demolition happening yesterday from my desk at work. Not as good an angle as the overhead shot.

They will probably grind it up into small chunks, blend it with St. Andrews School and it will be part of a new building elsewhere in the city.

When they ground up the old Memorial Area on site, that stuff became the base for the ice surface at SOFA, which was a fitting use to maintain the memorial aspect.

Silica is the most common hazard on a work site. Silica dust can cause silicosis, a serious and irreversible lung disease. It can also cause lung cancer. Cutting, breaking, crushing, drilling, grinding, or blasting concrete or stone releases the dust. As workers breathe in the dust the silica settles in their lungs.

 

Its one of those not-an-immediate-health-risk compounds but a prolonged exposure risk.
