Took Shore-let #2 to see Minions: Rise of Gru last night at Silver City. Shorelet and his buddies enjoyed it. As did I - lots of easter eggs in there, and a pretty decent 70's soundtrack. it would seem that the makers really worked hard to make the movie appeal to parents as well as kids..

I think that's the case for that whole franchise. I've enjoyed them all.

Watched 13 Lives on Amazon. Pretty good.
I watched "Day Shift" on Netflix last night. It won't be winning any Oscars, but it was a pleasant enough distraction for 100 minutes or so.

You’ve saved Victoria over 33,000 times.Whenever I see a promo for this series I think someone came up with the name then created a storyline to go with it.

^^Wouldn't you rather see it at an IMAX theatre for less money?

The gay romcom Bros. absolutely bombed big time at the box office this weekend.
Of course, straight people and “homophobic weirdos” are to blame who didn’t go see the movie.
Bros. only brought in $4.8 million for the whole weekend, the #4 movie.

And while on Rotten Tomatoes it has a 92% score from both critics and audiences, it’s a bomb.

Wouldn’t you rather watch it at home? large TV sets are at an all time low price, most movie theatres are infested with rats and coronavirus and annoying people.^^Wouldn't you rather see it at an IMAX theatre for less money?
My TV is so big I can’t see the edges from where I sit(or at least the same amount of edge as an IMAX), as good as an IMAX or better
Popcorn is a lot cheaper

For the romantic comedy genre, star power is integral these days to getting people out of the house. Paramount’s “The Lost City” made it to the $105 million mark in the U.S. off the strength of pairing A-listers Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum (that it had adventure elements to its plot and a Brad Pitt cameo didn’t hurt), while the George Clooney-Julia Roberts rom-com “Ticket to Paradise” is already a hit overseas with $45 million ahead of its U.S. debut later this month. Without star power, a rom-com seems better off taking the streaming route than the theatrical route.

It's already hard to get guys to go to the theatre for straight rom-coms. They are usually dragged by their women. That market is 80% (straight) woman. Why would anyone come out for a gay men rom-com movie? The article linked above painfully misses this obvious point.
