Video game (1982):

The game was a major success, with approximately 10,000 arcade cabinets sold, and was awarded "Coin-Operated Game of the Year" by Electronic Games. A number of other licensed Tron games were released for home systems, but were based directly on elements of the film and not the arcade game. In 1983, Tron was followed by Discs of Tron, an arcade sequel which was not as successful.

Ok thanks I thought "NIN" might be a video game, heh. I really did enjoy the 2010 sequel but I think you're thinking of Jeff Bridges not Kurt Russell VV :). Is it actually Bridges in the flesh in "Ares" - or some conjured AI-generated version of the actor?

Jared Leto is the main actor as the AI fighter guy Ares.

Honestly I didn’t know what the movie was really about but it was an AV spectical!

I watched Back To The Future yesterday. It’s on Prime.

The day he went back to was November 5, 1955.

The movie stands up pretty good!

I can’t get my kids to watch it, they think it looks too old.
I don’t think they would catch the distinction between the 80s and the 50s. Even the future shown in the sequel would look old to them.

Cray to think them going back to the 50s, is like us going back to the 90s.

Ouch: Halloween Becomes Worst Box Office Weekend In Over 30 Years And Worst Weekend In All Of 2025

https://comicbookmov...of-2025-a224619

Yet, an even more worrying record has been broken. Comscore reports (via THR) that, without counting the pandemic, this also marks the worst box office weekend in 31 years. The previous record holder was 1993, which brought in an unadjusted-for-inflation $49.2 million. But the bad news don't stop there, because according to Variety, this weekend closed what marks the worst October in box office history, having brought in what Variety describes as "an abysmal" $425 million.

The previous worst October was 1997's, with a cume of $385 million (unadjusted for inflation). That's particularly worrying, given the multiple would-be blockbusters released this month, including Tron: AresSpringsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere and The Smashing Machine. All of the projects failed to meet expectations, and in the case of Tron, became major financial flops.

Kids will spend hours watching nerds play video games, or talk about video games. Zero production costs. Times they are a changing….

They need to figure out how to make 6 second episodic movies. That might work.

Yup. I watch mechanics wrenching on motors. I’ve got no time for movies.

Halloween weekend eh? Same weekend as game 6 and 7 of the most watched MLB world series in 34 years.

The entire ecosystem of Hollywood is collapsing. The star making power is required to sell movies but movies are in decline. This is why Brad Pit, Tom Cruise and George Clooney are still lead actors. The Beast is the new Cruise.

It’s a shame on some levels, vindicating on others but I think the art of visual story telling will be fine.

I saw Predator: Badlands tonight.

It's a very entertaining film, but for those of you who enjoy the Predator films of old, this is not for you.

The film's been Disneyfied.

You've been warned.

Watched Jaws today.

Not bad. Was worth waiting 50 years to watch it for the first time.

I'm not sure I understand this kind of thing.   We've all seen the movie, most of us many times.

Who needs to go see it in a theatre, 40 years later?  We can dial it up today on a streaming service, that most of us have.
